The publishers of the ANGEL novel series may be considering canceling the series due to a lack of sales. The opinion of many fans of the series is that it is not marketed correctly to get adult fans to buy them. In order to raise awareness in the fandom about the books, and to let Simon and Schuster know that YES, we want the series to continue, Team Angel is organizing a book drive.

Here is what you do: During the week between August 16th and August 23rd- buy ANGEL books. If you don't have them yourself, keep them. If you have them all, donate them to a library or some other place that needs books. Team Angel will, hopefully, have a postcard that you can print out and send to S&S about your donation.

If you do not know where the ANGEL books are in your local bookstore, you aren't alone... this is a major problem for adult fans- the ANGEL books are in the "Teen Series" or "Young Adult" section of most Barnes and Noble and Borders books.

If your bookstore does not have them, ask them to order them. Most places will do this for free.

Hmmm, I'm one of those people that don't buy Angel books... I'm more of a BtVS person... But, I'll buy as many as I can when this drive thing-a-ma-jig is on.

Im a big fan of the Buffy books, but Ive never bothered to pick up an Angel one...

I think if they did an Illyria book, I'd defintiely read it, or a Season 5 book with Illyria in it 😀

WTW I'm hoping you're at least sticking around for this topic, rather then posting your campaign then darting. As nobody seems to really read Angel books what would you suggest? Which are good etc?

I'll just buy the ones, that haven't been made into episodes... that's what I do with the BtVS books (I don't want to watse money if I know what's going to happen).

the angel books are surprisingly good! if you want the chance to read an Illyria book, support the series or the publishers will just finish it here...Sanctuary was pretty good.

Recommended books

Of course I am sticking aound! :rose2: some titles to recommend? Let's see, I pretty much like them all but a few that have stuck out in my mind are:

Redemption - early Angel, it has Doyle
Close to the Ground
The Summoned

to name a few. Much like the Buffy books, they read like the show!

You can start buying them at anytime, as there is no "set date" to begin the drive. The idea is for publishers to realize that the books are being bought and read.

Well I was in town earlier and bought "Nemesis", there was a minimal selection and I umm and ahhd for a long time. I like Fred so it should be good as long as they hit Fred on the head as so to speak. Also bought Buffy "Apocalpyse Memories" as it was buy one get one half price so they came to £10.50 (WH Smiths). I like Willow and it deals with her in early season seven trying to handle her magic. Probably wont read either for a while.

I'm cautious of buying books based on TV series' since I heard books for Charmed are really out of character and give them all random powers and stuff. Although I've read half of "The Lost Slayer" and I liked that.

I know what you are saying. I was very cautions to buy Buffy and Angel books too. A friend of mine actually lent me hers to see if I liked them, and true to her word, they were good!

yeah I have never read an Angel book, they just dont look intresting to me like the Buffy ones do. But I hope they dont cancelle it.

"Nemesis" is refreshingly different. it doesn't focus solely on Fred like I thought it would but also includes quite a good characterization insight into Gunn too which I thought was great. also has little Angel-hair references and comic-book format writing to make it interesting! Quite good.
"Apocalypse Memories" is okay. Didn't really like it very much. Seemed to out of the Buffyverse type stuff. not a lot happens.
"The Darkening" - 1st Installment in Wicked Willow series (i just read it today) is excellent. very interesting. its an alternate time line where Dark Willow in Season 6 isn't stopped. Takes quite a twist on things where you get to see how differently things turned out and how some things turned out the same way either way. A What If type book with AWESOME insight into Willow's character and feelings during the end of Season 6 which I though was kinda lacking on screen.

The only Angel book i own is 'Nemisis', but my friend has almost every Angel book, and i've borrowed hers. (I have no money)
Also, slaygal, the 2nd installment is even better! Believe me! :bounce:

Is the 2nd installment of the Dark Willow books out in the UK? Im heading up to the nearest big city in a few weeks to help the Woolies there "re-merch" which means I'll be spending all my money I earn there on food and stuff. (Although I am earing £100 for 2 days work)

I used to buy so many Buffy and Angel books. But now I don't.Another reason why there is a lack of sales, is probably cause it's not part of the buffyverse. It's just based on the buffyverse. It's just fanfiction, that's been published.
