Somehow, I don't think the age of consent has too much to do with the discussion here, it's about the age gap... I think there's nothing wrong with you and your boyfriend, a two year gap is virtually nothing... especially not if you compare it with 200+ gap between Buffy and Angel.

Very true indeed... however generally (😉) we generalise something because it's true.

See, in my experience i have found that most people generalise things not because they are true, but because it's easier to just believe what everybody else happens to be saying rather than making a stand and saying "Wait a sec, that isn't actually the case!".

Again, all i can do is use the example of my past experience but my girlfriend at the time was an extremely forceful personality, in fact that is what made me notice her in the first place. Nothing i said or did would have manipulated her into doing anything she didn't want to do and in truth i never would have tried. Had you met us out together at a gig i seriously doubt you would have known there was any significant age gap.

My sister is another good example. From her early teens she was an extremely strong person who no guy would ever be able to force into anything she wasn't happy about. Alternatively, i used to work with a girl maybe a year younger than myself who would never speak up for herself and allowed people to walk all over her, including her boyfriend.

In my experience, age is absolutely no indicator of how strong a person you are and therefore simply saying that a person who is a significant number of years older than their partner will, by default, be the stronger character is by no means an accurate guage.
