Ok, I know this isn't really related to Angel Season 4 in the US, but I figured this was the part of the boards most likely to get replies.
So I just got the DVDs of Season One, and I'm kind of annoyed about the lack of special features. I suppose I should say that this is my first Buffy/Angel DVD set, so if this is how all of the Buffy DVDs have been or something, I don't really know or care.
Anyway, so the set has something like three episode commentaries, a couple of throw away featurettes and a script or two. That is just stupid. Really, I know that Joss and Co. are ultra busy and stuff, but when I'm paying $45 for DVDs that cost pennies to produce I think they should include some bonuses to make it worth your while. Really, the commentaries that they included were actually really good, but there were only a few. Two of the featurettes were just introductions to Angel and Cordy's characters that anyone who has watched even a couple episodes of the show would know. There weren't even any keen insightes from the cast/crew. Then they had a featurette about the demons from the first season, and that was ok, but nothing terribly special. The script was alright, but really, how useful is it really and how hard was it to put in a PDF document and bundle on the disc. It really shouldn't have been hard to put ALL of the scripts on. I don't know, it just seems like they didn't spend any time at all working on this. Joss & Brian Greenwatl did one commentary. ONE, and they did it together! Look at the Xmen 1.5 DVD. It had five hours of extra stuff and it's the same price as a regular DVD (maybe just a couple bucks more expensive) and it also includes a free ticket to see Daredevil or Xmen 2 at the theaters, so you can take at least five bucks off the price tag.
OK, enough ranting...thoughts? ;-)
