DEAR BOY

The Good;
All the Angel and Darla stuff and the Kate stuff. Love the cheating wife subplot too.

The Bad;
?

Best line:
"God doesn't want you, but I do"

Jeez, how did they get away with that?
Awful scene between Darla and Angelus whilst driving Dru mad. She is a virgin and a saint, how different her life could have been. Darla grabbing/killing the actor.

Apocalypses: 4

Kinky dinky:
Angel forces himself on Darla but being Darla she revels in it. "You're hurting me, I like it". Angel tells Darla she can 'Scream all she wants'. Darla says she's pretty familar with the international sign for 'enough' whilst Angel says what they did together 'blew the top of my head off'. Angel has 'a thing for convents', hmmm? The nuns or the teenage schoolgirls in uniforms? Darla kills the streetwalker even though she was one herself. Angel smells Cordy's hair, the first hint of Cangel. When Angel refers to his love Cordy thinks he's talking about Buffy. Cordy's 'Pet me I'm a whore' outfit certainly fits the bill. Angel observes that Wes has recently had sex with a bleach blonde, probably the girl from 'Judgement', much to Cordelia's incredulity. Buffy the cheerleader gave Angel a happiness Darla couldn't give, maybe Darla should get the costume and some pompoms?

Captain Subtext;
In fanfic the bleach blonde Wes had sex with is often Spike. Lorne refers to his bartender Ramon as a 'treasure'.

Know the face, different character; 2

Parking garages;
4,

Guantanamo Bay;
Buffy characters on Angel; Dru for the first time 12
Wetherby, Collins and Smith. Angel, Cordy, Oz, Spike, Buffy, Wes, Faith, Darla, Dru

Questions and observations;
Angel is 247 years old and now a coffee addict contrary to what was stated in The Prom. Great ep, the renewal of the Angel/Darla relationship and it's terrific on all levels, great things to come. Angel seems to have established a reputation as a PI for the superanatural, AI's spying on the cheating wife is quite professional with listening devices, mini-camera's, the works. In the Buffyverse there appear to be no aliens (what about the Queller demon from season 5?). Kate is now a pariah in the LAPD but is still loved by her friends and colleagues. Lorne is back for the first time in a while. Some great satire on Hollywood actors. Gunn has a long and colourful record with LAPD.

Very nice episode!!! Darla finally reveals herself to Angel!

Under other circumastances(that woman there not being Darla) i would think that Angel was violent against Darla...he was but in a sexy way! 😉 Well the whole nature of their relationship was violent...they used to kill dozens of people and they enjoyed it. One question: did his teeth scratch her neck when he changed?cause i couldn't see that well...

Darla finds it hard to understand that he never made Angel/us happy...since they spent so many years together and they have done so many stuff together. Angel gives her the truth...she never made him happy. He never loved her...and neither did she. I love the dialogue :"and that cheerleader could?" of course Darla could never understand that the love between Angel and Buffy wasn't sth like a school flirt, or Angel fooling around. It was sth Darla couldn't conceive of probably because she had never loved anything.(not until season 3 😉 ) It's reasonable.They had no soul then. They couldn't love anything.

I laughed when Angel smelled Cordy's hair! poor broody Angel! Darla drove him mad with those dreams!!! And poor Cordy!!! She didn't see that coming...Angel smelling her!

I agree with Dru on this one: "Oh, we can you know. We can love quite well. If not wisely." There have been many instances where soulless vamps have been in love: Spike loved Dru and Buffy, Elizabeth and James, etc. I believe that Darla did, and always will love Angel. Kind of like what she said near the end. "No matter how good a boy you are, god doesn't want you! But I still do."

I love Darla's speech, and I agree with it completely. Darla knows Angel better than anybody IMO ever will, and I think she certainly understands Angel's "love life".

Haha yeah, I still find that to be odd. It's just like, "umm...." *confusedly glances around the room*. 😀

I loved all the flashbacks, they were very intriguing and telling in regards to Dangel/ the Fanged Four's past.

Well I don't agree about the "vampires can love" thing...Darla knows Angel, and yeah his love life too...but I don't think that's love between them. Buffy and Angel had love...but that's my personal opinion

Boy THAT'S a quote and half! But still better than drooling Twilight fanfgirls . So many of the relationships are violent, torrid and even sado-masochistic but the show lends itself to such things by it's nature, possibly why it has such an adult fanfic following

I just think that Angel and Darla were always a little sadistic to each other so that's why I have no prob with that scene. If that was another woman I don't think Angel would have acted like this
I'm a fan of this ep. The scenes between Darla & Angel are very intense & really show the extent to which DB has grown as an actor. I also love the line "between the clowns & the talking hotdog", classic JW to drop a hilarious line in a tense scene. That is why I love him.

Well, technically David Greenwalt wrote this episode, with Marti Noxon writing the pivotal Darla/Angel dialogue. But still, I know what you mean! 🙂 And I agree with you, I really like this ep too.

The underground water basin was such an awesome setting! David Greenwalt says that it was filled in with water shortly after they filmed:

Another element that made the scene so awe-inspiring was its setting, a vast underground water tank in the L.A. basin. David gave us a little insight on how they came across it. "My producer Kelly Manners had seen that and he said, 'You have to figure out something to shoot here because this is a really cool space.' We felt this was a great place for him [Angel] to take Darla and torment her. And they're going to fill it with 50 million gallons of water soon, so you won't be seeing it on every TV show."

Another good episode. Angel apologising to the Caritas crowd cracks me up. Angel and Darla are intense, but Darla is intense the whole time - she's starting to get the measure of Lindsey, too, playing with his fake hand.

Her line in the flashback :I loathe cheap royalty!

Cordelia: If i sit down i'll throw up in my head!

An uber awesome episode!!😀

Darla keeping up the act until after she does the sign of the cross and gets pinned by Angel...she just breaks the act and becomes Darla🙂 omg got chills with her laugh haha Darla's speech is amazing...and when she's on the stairs in the sunlight looking back at him saying 'no kiss?' ooo shivers>.< Sucks though she never gave Angel happiness...wth-.-

What i hate is that Angel and this cop Kate keep getting themselves in deeper crud with eachother.Lol the whole vampire killing her dad thing and Angel being there at the wrong time and then Faith thing and now this lol doesn't stop.

This is one of my favourite Angel episodes. I love the opening scene and Angel singing Mandy (when Lorne was first in this he was portrayed in a slightly scary manner as if he had a dark edge, which was sadly not expanded upon) and the awesome scene in the house. There was a real intensity to the filming and I put a lot of this down to the fact that the camera is used as if it is behind Angel's eyes. Used sparingly that effect is great 🙂

I liked this episode a lot! I love seeing Darla again and the flashbacks to her and Angelus' relationship. It really shows how Angelus became so dark and twisted, not just run-of-the-mill evil.

Does Darla truly have a soul? I suppose I'll find out. I would think they could bring her back without her having a soul, hence why she isn't tormented by all those she killed.

One thing that bothers me: When Angel goes to the house, couldn't he have used his PI camera and recorder to record the entire dialogue between Darla, the actor, and Leslie? He could have brought it to Kate and been like, "See? Innocent. And now you can go after someone at W & H." Though Angel wasn't exactly thinking straight.

LOVE the end scene with Darla and Angel. Chemistry, chemistry. The "God doesn't want you. But I still do." line makes me go ooooooh.
