The Good;
Nice central concept, lovely to see Oliver again and the scens with him and Rebecca and Angel and Rebecca are also good. Tamara Gorski is very good as she also was in Hercules although her Irish accent is just as bad as DBs.
The Bad;
The explanation that the drugs effects are only temporary is stupid, it's not like the 'happy' Buffy gave Angel lasted for weeks (or if it did I'm doing it wrong?) In season 4 when they need to bring Angelus out why not just give him some of this? Why does Angelus cut the phones, who are they going to call?
Best line:
Rebecca (after Angel tells her he doesn't kill any more) "There's a support group for everything in this town"

Questions and observations;
Can't quite imagine Doyle and Angel at an Ibsen play? Wes and Angel seem much more at home. Wes' remark of ET meaning Emma Thompson is SOOO him. Angel thinks Frank Langella is the best Dracula (did he ever meet the real deal? Langella doesn't physically resemble him). Wonder what he'd have made of his Oscar nominated turn in Frost vs Nixon? Angelus says he never killed a famous person which is reassuring.
Marks out of 10; 8/10 good ep, nice character development and a little to say about Hollywood

I loved this one, 9/10. I thought Rebecca was a good character and her scenes with Angel were great.
But i thought they explained the drug thing? They couldn't have used that drug in s4 as in Eternity that wasn't really Angelus. It was just the drug messing with normal Angels head(at least, i 'think')
Really good episode though.

Aye, that is what I thought as well.. I mean that Angelus was a watered down version of the Angelus on Buffy. He was just stoned is all.

Well it further blurs the line between the Angel and Angelus. Maybe this proves they are the same person essentially. If Angel is so high, that he doesn't feel the effects of his soul, then he is Angelus.

This episode confused me. I mean, did he actually lose his soul and become Angelus? Because it seemed like he became Angelus, but I don't understand how some drugs could make him lose his soul temporarily then get it back without any re-cursing. So did he not lose his soul?

I don't think so. Because I don't think there's anything temporary about losing his soul. Wesley said it's a hallucination. Angel thinks that he's lost his soul; he thinks that he's Angelus. But he's not. And the effect is only temporary.

I don't know. Producer Tim Minear says:

`Possibly Joss' favorite episode,` says Minear. `Again, one of the very first episodes, as I mentioned before, where the permutation of the script you saw came after Joss decided that Angel should go bad in the second part of the episode. I know there was a lot of criticism on the Internet about the way he went bad, and did he really go bad? The idea of giving Angel a variation of ecstasy"”to me, that just worked. I thought it was a really good way to bring Angelus into the series for a moment so that he could interact with our characters for a moment, without doing some big "˜Angel has turned evil' arc. You sort of get to have your cake and eat it too in that episode. It really works when he goes evil.

Brilliant.
I didn't have a problem with Angelus coming to the fore and agree with Kana about the psyche separation not being so clearly defined as we thought. I think at some level Angel wanted to teach Rebeccah a lesson and got into the trip of it.

But the best line is ..."And the Oscar goes to .." lmao at that one 🙂

Loved this episode, David Boreanaz's acting is in full motion. I wished we got to see Rebecca again, there is a lot of potential in the character. My only complaint this episode was that Cordelia was very annoying in the beginning

I'm with you on DB and loving the episode. I love getting to see a hint of Angelus and the end is hilarious.

However I must say thank heavens we didn't get to see Rebecca again 🙂
Annoying, vapid and conceited on a whole new scale. Not a character I'd like to re-visit.

Hey, I just noticed something interesting about Rebecca. The bones of her neck, the blood vessels in her neck, her throat, all seem to be more prominent than in the average woman. With a woman who wants to get bitten by a vampire, this is appropriate and may well have been a deliberate casting decision on Mutant Enemy's part. Alternatively, maybe the justification is that the character Rebecca is deliberately making her neck look especially tempting for a vampire.

Another question about Rebecca: How sure are we that she learned her lesson? She realizes that it would be a bad idea to ever again make contact with Angel for such purposes. But she could have sought out some other vampire and tried to get them to sire her. Episodes like "Lie to Me" imply that the most common vampire reaction to such attempts is to simply drink the human's blood without siring them, so I suppose that's the second most likely ending to her story (after "she just returned to her dwindling career as an aging actress, and lived a normal, vampire-free life.") Of course, it is possible that she was one of the vampire-seekers who is lucky enough or smart enough to have the vampire honor her request and sire her. (Perhaps she could find a vampire who was a fan of her old TV show, and who therefore would want a vampire version of her to exist.) Which would be a material for a sequel; Rebecca could return as a vampire (I suppose the character isn't quite interesting enough for that, however).
