Cordy hits the town with the girls but gets more than she bargained for. Great to see Phantom Dennis back and his scenes with Cordy are beyond lovely.
Love the reaction of the doctor and nurse during the ultrasound. Very good ep

How gorgeous are CCs friends, especially Sarina? Obviously this goes some VERY dark places, it smacks of GOT fetishism (beautiful women being raped and impregnated by demons/monsters/aliens who they then fall in love with), the ultrasound reminds me of the infamous maternity ward scene in Aliens vs Predator; Requiem (of course Joss wrote Alien Ressurection so he's no stranger to the concept). Considering that Joss is supposed to be this great pro-feminist he puts his heroines through a lot of nasty stuff, almost like he wants to have his cake and eat it. Wilson apparently nearly had phonesex with the resteraunt manager to get them in. Cordy drinks Angel's pig's blood, Angel states he never realised how disgusting it was until just then. At the end Cordy states she's learned sex is bad and men are evil. Angel agrees.

Captain Subtext;
The girls assume Wes and Angel are a couple. Angel says it adds mystery. Angel describes Cordy as family and she says she trusts him and Wes implicitly.

Questions and observations;
Fun story, putting Angel Investigations together more and more. How wonderful that when Wes has to come up with a name for him and Cordy he decides on Mr and Mrs Penborne. Angel comments that their French client made him want to drink a lot. Alcohol or blood? CC refers to Angel giving her date the 3rd degree which he and Doyle also did in the Bachelor Party. Wes refers to David and Goliath, the Watchers Council occasionally make biblical references.

One of my favorite eppys from the 1st season.

Loved how Angel, Wesley and Phantom Dennis went into Big Brother mode with Cordy.

Phantom Dennis was so cute. I love him!
This ep was kind of sad. When they find Cordy all preggers, Angel is so tender with her.
I disagree about the best line, though. I think all the stuff between Angel and Wesley was just great!!

Also, when I heard the name Wes and Cordy were going by, I thought it was "Penguin" and was some kind of joke about how Cordy waddles.
 
This episode is creepy. Amazing, but creepy. You see, I love this kind of Angel/Cordy relathionship. Family. I don't know why they tried to ruin one of the most beautiful friendships of all time with romance. Just like they tried with Willow/Xander. What's up with that?
I still miss Doyle, and I like how they mention him all the time. I love scenes with Cordy and Deniss in them 😀

Also do we know when Cordy losted her virginity? It was mentioned on Buffy that she slept with any of the guys she was dating, and we know she didn't do it with Xander. This is the first time we see Cordy in scenes connected to sex. I mean, in Innocence she asked Xander does guns make him horny, which shows she's not that experienced. Or this is the time she lost her virginity or they weren't really careful about that :/

I agree w/ Lilah. This is my least fav episode of the season. I do love how phantom Dennis tries to warn Cordy though, at least that's how I took it. That was funny.

That's how I feel too! I mean, if they're family, then it's kind of incestuous, LOL, KWIM? No, but seriously, I agree. I love this feeling of family, they really don't belong anywhere else but with each other.

I love Angel's deadpan comment when he sees Cordy drinking blood: "I don't think I ever realized just how disgusting that was."

plus when she jumps at the start and 'smudges' her lipstick she says "now I'm The Joker" .. well it seems like a connection to me lol

it does sound like Pengbourne tho ...

and Wes! An adze has a horizontal blade rather than a vertical axe blade.

lol - that's probably the way the Doctor wrote it down 😉

Pangborn would be a slightly unusual spelling in England, whereas Pangbourne is a village on the Thames near London and would suit Mr Wyndham-Price perfectly. Although thinking about it, Pangborn would suit Wesley's upbringing perfectly too 🙂
