The Good;
Actually I rated this ep pretty weak until the last 5 minutes when it then became spectacular. Cordy's advertisement idea and the one she films with Doyle are hilarious but ultimately incredibly poignant. Good scene too when the kid tells Doyle his Halloween story.
The Bad;
I didn't really dig the demons in peril storyline and I thought the Naiz allegory with The Scourge was a bit thick (nowadays they'd be the Taliban). Also they seem to accept Angel into their ranks a little too easily. Even their vehicles look Nazi-like and DB's hair looks very 1940s.
Best line:
Doyle; Is that it? Am I done?

Jeez, how did they get away with that?
Doyle's melting face
Apocalypses: 4
Angel Cliches (Cordy's ad is one big Angel cliche)
Damsel in distress; nope, 2.
Inverting the Hollywood cliche;
The sidekick sacrifices himself to save the day rather than the hero
In disguise; 3 as a Nazi/scourge
DB get's his shirt off; 3
Cordy's tatto;2
Cheap Angel; 2. Exactly what do all these people owe Angel money for?
Fang Gang in bondage:
Cordy: 5
Angel: 4
Wes: 1

Fang gang knocked out:
Cordy: 8
Angel: 7
Wes: 1
Doyle; 1

Kills:
Cordy: none this ep. 3 vamps, ½ a demon from her time in Sunnydale
Angel: 2 Scourge for Angel. So that gives Angel 8 vamps, 6 demons, 2 humans.
Doyle; 1 vamp

Fang Gang go evil:
Cordy: 1
Angel: 1

Alternate Fang Gang:
Cordy: 2
Angel: 5

Characters killed: the treacherous first mate so we won't count him
14
Recurring characters killed;
1; Goodbye Doyle

Total number of Angel Investigations:
2, Angel and Cordy

Angel Investigations shot:
Angel: 5,
Packing heat;
Doyle; 1

Notches on Fang Gang bedpost:
Cordy: 1?
Angel: 1;Buffy

Kinky dinky:
The wonderfully named Big Randy.
Captain Subtext;
Doyle imagines Angel in tights.
Know the face, different character; 2
Parking garages;
2
Guantanamo Bay;
Buffy characters appearing in Angel; (unless someone can correct me no original Angel character ever appears on Buffy?)
5; Angel, Cordy, Oz, Spike, Buffy
Questions and observations;
So goodbye Doyle, we hardly knew you. A good ending for the character but all the more sad by Glenn Quinn's death shortly afterwards. Cordy refers to 'one of the cheaper Baldwins' in her description of the advert. I always thought Adam Baldwin was one but according to IMDB no he's not. Angel on a motorbike, Cordy drives a truck, is there no end to her talents? Once again we see demons who are slowly being won over to humanity. The Scourge are trying to stop this but are unwittingly aping human's themselves.
Marks out of 10; 7/10, a weak ep rescued by it's awesome finale

I didn't get too attached to Doyle because he didnt last long. So I really don't understand the big love for Doyle when he died halfway through the season. He was a hero, yes but there wasn't much character development along the way.

7/10 also for me.

I just started to love Doyle this episode and then he died. 🙁 Anyway, I think the whole episode is not that great, but the last 5 minutes made it. I kinda like Angel in Nazi suit. The last scene with Doyle in the video was truly sad. It's even sadder when they watch it in You're Welcome. Oh, I love the "I'm the Dark Avenger" scene too. 🙂

I love the "our rats are low", "rates" moment. I love this epsiode, and I really loved Glenn Quinn in the show. I think any lack of development issues is down more to Joss getting rid of him so soon into the show. Bit of a waste if you ask me, but we'll always have those nine episodes.

I hate to say I loved this ep as I loved the Doyle character and was praying he would get together with Cordy so I was gutted by the end of this ep and yes I was one who cried lol.

Same here. I personally like to think that Doyle & Cordy are together now as Junior Powers That Be.

For me, David Boreanaz/Angel had great chemistry with everyone, even Xander, but he just had this special on-screen chemistry with Doyle/Glenn, Darla/Julie, Lindsey/Christian, and Spike/James.

According to Boreanaz, Glenn was his best friend in real life and Christian's also a friend. Don't know about Julie and Boreanaz explicitly said that he and Marsters don't socialize...

I loved this episode so much! It's one of my favorite Angel ones. Doyle might not have been around long, but I think it's even more impressive then that he got the depth that he did. The final scene broke my heart (when they were rewatching the video). And a couple episodes later, after Wes shows up, Angel accidentally calls him "Doyle." I thought that was extremely moving.

To be quite honest, I didn't really like the episode, except for the beginning ("Our rats are low") and the ending ("Too bad we'll never know...") but the ending was sooo sad! I absolutely loved Doyle and I always wanted to see him with Cordy. They should have kept him longer.

I really enjoyed Doyle as a character. I obviously did not get as attached as I could have if he had more episodes. I think Whedon should have kept him around for a few more episodes. He was an interesting character.

I was rewatching and I realized "What is Cordy wearing in this episode??"
At first, she looks smokin' as ever, but later... not her most attractive look.

I'm not sure what I think of the Nazi allegory, though. As a Jew, I've grown up hearing about the Holocaust and stuff, and it has a really strong impact on me. On the other hand, it's pretty cliched. Still, I think it's important to remember that it can happen to all people (demons) and is still happening around the world. Didn't think the Scrouge leader was as good a speaker as Hitler, though. Makes you wonder how *he* got his following.

Ya know what I don't understand about this thread? Why is has Wesley as the little post face....

Loved Doyle, alot of charisma and very likeable. Very sad he was killed off.
And saturn5, Cordy driving a truck! thats probably about as talented as Cordy gets, unless you count loving herself.
Episode was a bit blah. 5.5/10.

I've never really liked this episode, always thought it was a little dull, okay veryy dull, but i did love Doyle's character so much.. 🙁
