Angel ep by ep; HERO

Oh yeah, she is quite hot, but she's TOO much into her looks, which actually detracts from her hotness. And Faith, Buffy, Fred, Dawn, Willow, Darla, Jenny... All hotter.

Arguably Faith, Buffy and S7 Dawn yes, not the others in my opinion but that's probably a theme for another thread. CC has good skills, she's pretty handy in a fight, she's funny, she can think on her feet, she has her 'Cordiness', something indefineable but wonderful
 
I thought this episode was really great. Doyle's character developed a little more and that's awesome. But I cried when Doyle died. Not going to lie. The Cordy/Doyle kiss was pretty epic.

Is it my imagination, or was the Scourge leader guy the dancing demon on "Once More With Feeling"? I could have been seeing things.
 
Man, I just watched this episode for the first time. Truly heartbreaking. I'm still teary eyed. I've loved Doyle since the first time I watched Angel. Wish he would've been lasted longer on the show.

I agree with GrrArghx3 - this ep is so heartbreaking. Doyle was such a lovely character - i wish there'd been more time with him to see what would've happened with him and Cordy and to see his character develop some more. I only just found out that Glenn Quinn died a few years after - It's so sad we won't get to see more from him, as he had a real talent. I did however enjoy the episode up until the teary part! And to be honest even that part was good - heartbreaking but good 🙂
 
I just watched this again for the second time; and I'm like bawling right now.
I really do believe Doyle's death was the saddest one.

In terms of the whole Buffyverse Joyce takes the cake. In terms of Angel it has to be either CC because we'd known her so long and been so suckered by the twist or Wes because he'd grown so as a character and undergone such tragedy

I cried. I cry. I will cry. This episode is not that amazing. I mean, the plot is ordinary, it doesn't suck, but it didn't left me breathless. But I love Doyle. I loved him from the begining. And I'm so sad we didn't got to see more of him. I think he could've been an amazing character, a great plot device in the future. And I really think they shouldn've killed him, he wasn't done yet. This wasn't the end of his story. And he and Cordy, they never got a chance. They would be so good together. And now we'll never know. The ending, when Angel and Cordy are watching his video is just heartbreaking, I cried like a baby. I don't know why, but I watched the ending for 7 or 8 times, like I wanted to cry more. "Is that it? Am I done?" just killed me. I thought "No, you're not." Does anyone know why they killed him? Was just because of the plot or is something more behind it?

True Doyle's story was certainly not finished..I wish he stayed for a lot longer

I've read that Joss always planned to keep Doyle just for that short amount of time.

But, there's other rumors that say they fired Glenn Quinn because of his drug problem.

I don't know which is true, though.

First I don't understand, because as I remember, fans really got to love him, and I think the right move would be to keep him, just like they brought back Spike in BtVS.
But second.. I kinda understand.
 
I understand why they killed Doyle. It was unexpected and he had already become a much loved character meaning his death would have an effect on the audience. It was also necessary for the story to develop, as Cordelia needed to have the visions.
 
I think it was very necessary, which is why his death is so wonderful. It kind of set the premise of the show. As Cordelia says in S5:

"He gave his last breath to make sure you kept fighting."

He was so sweet and would have made such a great couple with Cordy. And how Cordy told him he should ask her to dinner already...and at the end how he says "Too bad we'll never find out if this is a face you could learn to love" right after that kiss!!!!

this episode is upsetting. I don't like it. I haven't seen any Angel episodes after this, but boy, am I upset! ugh. I want Doyle back 🙁

I feel your pain, I do like this ep, but it makes me go - whyyy? too
I loved Doyle since the first moment he appeared, I loved his accent, the way he spoke, and I thought he has a Matthew Bellamy-kind of mojo *I'm a big Matthew Bellamy groupie*. I remembered that I didn't remember anything about a Doyle in Angel so I knew he wouldn't stay a long time.
So, when he kissed Cordelia I thought "They finally kiss" then he hit Angel and I thought "Why would he hit Angel?" *I'm the queen of denial sometimes*. And then when he jumped, I was so sad but so proud of him!
But I was really upset that the yummy-accent-yummy-Bellamy-mojo guy died.
He died as a hero so it's a beautiful death, but I cried, a lot! *and watched the scene over and over again*
 
Damn you Joss Whedon, damn you to hell. I am sitting here crying, and I've seen it before! When Cordy cries, it's hard not to cry. And it gets me thinking of You're Welcome: first soldier down.

The score is amazing, did they use it anywhere else or was it exclusive to this episode?
 
Doyle was a great character, but he spent far too long faffing around - if he'd just jumped for the lightbox straight away without all the long goodbyes he could have pulled the plug and got back and taken Cordy out to dinner. Plus Wesley/Doyle English/Irish interactions would have been so funny!

And the Nazi's/demon background story doesn't do it for me but the new depth to understanding the AI team is great in this episode. And forget Cordy driving a truck. Renegotiating the shipping fee gets her a place on the board of management, imho.

And why is Doyle not in the post icon selection? Huh? Huh?
oops - sorry - he's in demon form *blushes*
 
I understood that his death was necessary but Joss, whyyyyyyyy must you be so cruel? Here I am, stating that Doyle was one of the most amazing characters in TV history and bam, dead.
Just when you thought him and Cordelia were finally... -_-" I cried, I seriously did.

Am I the only one who was obsessed with Doyle's Irish accent? That is one of the reasons I loved him so much 😀
