Angel ep by ep; SPIN THE BOTTLE-amnesia and alienation

I just watched this episode, it's one of the best Angel episodes. I watched it all the way through and then watched again with Joss and Alexis commentating! It's such a funny episode, and it was great to see Queen C, and a young Wes. He had to have a fall, that's the old Wes we loved. This episode had lots of sexual references which were executed so well, and we have Joss to thank for that. He is an amazing writer and director. Fred made me giggle a fair few times in this episode. In the scene Angel comes from outside after seeing demons 'shiny cars' you can see David and Amy smirking because for that scene there were in hysterics aswell as the rest of them, and David and Alexis couldn't even look at each other. I'm unsure whether I prefer this to Tabula Rasa, they would both certainly score 10 out of 10 though!!!
 
I just watched finished watching this episode and I loved it! So good to see hilariously incompetent Wesley again 😀

ITA, although I remember being surprised about it. But it does complete the picture we get of Liam's background.

& dont' forget about "Dawn's in trouble. Must be Tuesday", Tuesday of course being the night that Buffy aired on the WB & UPN.

I love this episode- yes it's an already-used plot device, but much funnier than Tabula Rasa. Wes' karate stuff had me laughing hysterically. I love Stoner Fred.

This episode took much longer to film due to the cast finding it difficult to stop laughing. Amy Acker and Andy Hallett ruined dozens of takes by giggling, and Alexis Denisof and David Boreanaz prolonged shooting for an hour and a half when they couldn't stop laughing. To get the scene, Denisof explains he and Boreanaz resolved not to look at each other; on the DVD commentary Whedon points out background shots where Boreanaz is still failing to keep a straight face.

The ironic thing is that it was probably one of the cheapest episodes to make- apart from Connor's fights and the hooker, it's pretty much just the regular cast and a lot of use made of the standing sets. And that to my mind is one of the stand-out things in any of Joss Whedon's work in that something brilliant comes out of a good cast, really sharp dialogue and a script which shows you another side to the characters while still keeping the story going.

More evidence to bear out the theory that Andy Hallett was the best thing in the series, sadly, but also a lot of moments to enjoy and some pointers to why the characters are the way they are- Gunn's chip on the shoulder about white people, Liam's relationship with his father and the way in which Fred and Wesley form a natural pairing.
 
I love this eps 😀 I love the music that plays at the start and the end. And love Wes after he stabs Angel in the side "oh, sorry!...I mean HA!"
 
This was a pretty funny episode with a blah ending (this Cangel thing has gotten old) and I enjoyed it..it wad fun to see all of them at age 17..and it was also refreshing to see the old Cordelia.
