The Bachelor Party
The Good; a lovely ep for Doyle adding a lot more depth to his character whilst providing some pretty gruesome comedy. Also like Doyle and Angel vetting CC's date, really gives them a sense of family.
The Bad; SUCH a shame we never see Harry again, that would have been terrific. Does she even know Doyle died?
Best line:
Cordy; "Doyle taught 3rd grade. The kind with children. Are you sure he wasn't just held back and that was his cover story?"
I also like Harry's aghast "Stripper! There was a stripper?"

Jeez, how did they get away with that?

The stripper. Is she human or demon? Either way she wears WAAAYYYY too much eyeshadow. Also Harry has bought herself a a nightie for her honeymoon small enough to fit into a matchbox. The girls meanwhile play pornographic pictionary. Doyle asks if Buffy likes men with an Irish accent (has she ever met one?). Apparently the demon women have legs that can bend multipile ways and this is an aid in the sack?

Questions and observations;
A good episode, fun and fleshing out the characters. Cordy refers to Xander as a fixer-upper. Our first set of friendly demons but not THAT friendly. It seems very much that demons in the Buffyverse are slowly being won over to the ways of humanity (ESPN). Some great heroism from Doyle and a very nice double act from Cordy and Harry. Despite Doyle's relating Angel's lifestory to him in City of Angels it seems he's never actually seen Buffy.

I really enjoyed this ep. I love Doyle and this gave him so much depth! I *so* wish he and Cordy had been able to get together. A very growing episode for Cordy, in a more subtle way. Suddenly rich and handsome aren't enough for her? The days of going to demon-worshipping frat parties seem to be coming to a middle. *Loved* her reference to Xander. Nice to know he's still on her mind... even if it's not in the best way. 🙂

The best part was seeing Cordy in her date-wear... I mean... WOW!!!!!
 
Funny that Richard played the demon from the episode Anne in Buffy. When I first saw him during this episode I instantly remembered him. And, I figured being that Angel is in L.A, and that's where Ken was in Anne, that it'd be the same guy. Weirdly, it wasn't. This episode was pretty good, I liked it 🙂

Doyle asking if Buffy would like a man with an Irish accent was an in-joke since Angel is Irish and had an accent for centuries (and she obviously loved Angel).

It was heartbreaking that Angel was either sitting alone staring at a photo of Buffy or using a Buffy photo as his bookmark during his hours of reading. Either way he was still missing her a lot.

I don't know what to think of Harry. I can imagine studying demonology and being fascinated by the paranormal and demonic sub-culture but to be all "Go demons! It's your birthday!" and marrying demons is just too much. It would be different if it were like Buffy falling for Angel and loving him completely despite the fact that he is a vampire and being able to kiss him when he has the vamp face on even though becoming a vampire is one of her only fears and killing vampires is her birthright and sacred duty. Harry saw nothing wrong with demons for what they were and thought they were just misunderstood.

I actually think Harry was less naive than Buffy overall. She never made any assumptions, she studied demons and demon culture. She was most likely aware that some demon kill but from what she read, the Anomovic were not evil, well not anti human anymore anyway. Even when Angel researched on them it seemed to confirm they gave up their ancient violent leanings. I actually liked Harry.
 
Buffy knows "good" demons exist and is okay with that but spends most of her life having to battle the MANY evil destructive demons. Buffy doesn't kill bad demons. She teamed up with Spike in S2. She stopped Faith from killing that demon (Faith still did it later) in Enemies and said "Let him go. He's harmless." She let demon clubs exist (Willy's) and even watched a game of demon kitten poker. She asked Clem to babysit her sister. She was the Maid-of-Honor for an ex-demon at a wedding in which half the guest list were demons.

Harry seems to think of "good demons" as the norm and "evil murderous demons" as the exception. Almost as if it were racism to have a problem with demons.
 
Yeah, thinking about it, based upon experience, Harry certainly isn't more savvy than Buffy, however I don't blame Harry. She did her research on the Straley's and Angel and Doyle after reading up assumed they were safe at first.
 
I really liked seeing Doyle as a deeper character. Till this episode he was just a half demon with visions, but now we know who he was.

Also, that talk about lunch, about what are they going to do on Bachelor Party.. EPIC! 😀
 
On the one hand, this is pretty standard MOTW S1 fare, a decent comedy episode, little else. But on the other hand, this is one of only two Doyle episodes, and since Doyle is such a great character, and is only in nine episodes, that makes this one all the more precious. I agree it would have been nice to have her back. In S1 you get Cordy looking for Doyle's mug, Angel accidentally calling Wesley 'Doyle' and the soulless boy using Doyle's voice, but that's all you really get as far as Doyle-mourning goes. A bit more recognition would have been nice, and Harry could have helped with that.
 
I watched this episode for the first time in ages recently. I loved Doyle, and wished that he'd had a bigger role in the series. And I loved this ep, particularly the demons' casual discussion of how to eat Doyle's brains. And I liked Harry too, she obviously loved Doyle a lot.

Yeah. I'd have loved to have seen more of Harry in the series, did she even know Doyle died?
 
This is a funny episode and it's great that it's Doyle centric as he is amazing but it doesn't rank well with me as I'm not a fan of episodes where people's brains are involved within a sacrifice, lame elmo.
