THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE PLZTH GRB

The Good;
The basket scene alone makes this wonderful. All told it's pretty good stuff though, a revolution in three eps.

The Bad;
It seems rather contrite that the entire world of Pylea is ruled by this small band of priests and their tiny army.

Best line:
Wes; "Why do people keep putting me in charge of things?"
Gunn; (exasperated) "I have NO idea!". In many ways Gunn is the straight man of Angel Investigations, constantly staggered at the rest of the gangs grand notions.

Jeez, how did they get away with that?
Severed Lorne's head, Pylea has a 'mutilation chamber'? Everyone keeps spitting on poor Lorne. The Groo sets his own hand on fire to intimidate Angel before they fight. He feels pain but just overcomes it!

Apocalypses: 5

Angel Cliches

Inverting the Hollywood cliche; Lovely heart to heart between Wes and Angel over the fireside but we later learn that Wes doesn't necessarily believe it, he just needs Angel to.

In disguise; 8

DB get's his shirt off; 12

Cordy's tattoo; 6,

Cheap Angel; 7

Fang Gang in bondage: Angel by Groo
Cordy: 5
Angel: 10
Wes: 6
Gunn; 3
Lorne; 2

Fang gang knocked out: Angel after the fight in the cave
Cordy: 10
Angel: 13
Wes: 5
Doyle; 1
Gunn; 1
Lorne; 1

Kills: 3 demons for Angel, 3 for Wes, 2 for Gunn and 1 for Cordy
Cordy: 5 vamps, 2½ demons
Angel; 26 vamps, 38 and 1/2 demons, 3 humans
Doyle; 1 vamp
Wes; 6 demons
Kate; 3 vamps
Faith; 16 vamps, 6 demons, 3 humans.
Gunn; 7 vamps+ 4 demons.
Fang Gang go evil:
Cordy: 2
Angel: 2

Alternate Fang Gang:
Cordy: 2
Angel: 6

Characters killed:
37

Recurring characters killed;
6;

Total number of Angel Investigations:
4, Angel, Cordy, Wes and Gunn

Angel Investigations shot:
Angel: 11
Wes; 1
Packing heat;
Wes; 3
Doyle; 1
Angel; 1

Notches on Fang Gang bedpost:
Cordy: 2 ?+Wilson/Hacksaw Beast
Angel: 2; Buffy and Darla
Wes; 2; Virginia and the bleached blonde

Kinky dinky:
Cordy touches the Groo 'by accident' in the dark. She refers to Groo and her on their wedding night having a 'shared burden lifting' but denies that she has much experience. She doesn't like the idea of Com-shukking in front of the priests. The priests tell Groo that if Angel should win he will ravage and defile Cordy again and again until she has no more screaming in her.

Captain Subtext;
Do the Covenant represent the Taliban? Check out the slave-girls expression when Cordy orders her to strip naked. Also check out that Lorne's eyes flicker open to watch. Lorne observes that Groo works out when Cordy rubs him up against him. When Cordy tells Groo she loves him Angel is a little afronted that she doesn't say she loves him too. Gunn's speech at the end neatly sums up post American Civil War history.

Know the face, different character; 2

Parking garages;
5,

Guantanamo Bay;

Buffy characters on Angel; 16
Wetherby, Collins and Smith. Angel, Cordy, Oz, Spike, Buffy, Wes, Faith, Darla, Dru, Master, Anne, Willow and Harmony

Questions and observations;
To judge by his remarks when he and Wes are going to be executed Gunn is a Christian who believes when he dies he'll go to Jesus. CC can scream like a Classic Dr Who companion (as can Dawn, see Shadow). Angel doesn't snore. In demon form he rather resembles the Incredible Hulk. Lorne doesn't have 5 toes on each foot although we don't know how many he does have. Wes is faced with the General's classic dilemma of having to sacrifice some of his men for the greater good. How do they get Angel's car out of Caritas? Willow at the end is heartbreaking, how much can Alysson Hannigan emote with just her expression?
Marks out of 10; 8/10 good end to an enjoyable arc but you're keen to get back to LA.

Loved Pylea and Plrtz Glrb was the best one. It just so weird, it did seem like Pylea was basically a tiny castle in a tiny village, with some scum pits. Great fun though. Loved the Groo. Lornes mom=legend. 8.5/10.

Oh, I love this whole arc. 🙂 These episodes were all so fun and interesting. Plus, I love the imagery and the use of colors, it's gorgeous. 🙂

I liked this arc..it was fun and to break LA scene for a while was a smart move. What I really don't like it's Angel's interest in Cordelia..it came out of nowhere and doesn't feel right,it doesn't feel real..I can't stand watching it. Oh well, I don't wanna go on in my Cangel dislike too much...wasn't she cute with Groo?? :tongue3: I loved the end of this episode where they find Willow and Angel says: "It's Buffy". It's so sad, I was crushed by Alyson's expression (she's awesome) and when Angel says Buffy all those Bangel memories come to my mind.

It seemed to be a regular thing with some seasons we would get like a different arc for the last few episodes which is a very risky thing to do, but I find the Pylea arc a art of genius (sp?). An amazing arc of fun, action and discovering how W&H even had apart to play in Pylea. If we had no Pylea we wouldn't of got Numfar, MWAH. It was nice to escape the hussle and bussle of LA, only to return to the drama there with Willow waiting and Angel realising Buffy has gone, it's a tear jerker. I love all of Alyson's appearances on Angel. I have so much love for Angel!!!!!

I loved the whole Pylea storyline. Like TaylorSwift said, it was nice to see the gang in a different setting besides LA. These episodes brought out so many emotions in me, mostly I was aggravated & angry at how Cordy & everyone else were being treated. But it was also funny & I enjoyed these eps. Really great seeing Willow again too even if it's only for a few seconds.

I love the Pylea episodes, they're super fun.
These were also the first Angel episodes I saw, they were airing them on some Norweigan channel really late at night and I just had to buy the DVD's.

Best line:
Captain: "I will personally bury my spear in his rump." 😀

The Pylea episodes were great. Delving into Lorne's past / family history was legendary.

And, of course, bringing Fred home was one of the greatest parts of all this 🙂

I thought it was really sad at the end of the episode willow's sitting there sulking about to tell him that buffy died (sighs) so sad.

This was such a fun arc - I love all of the Pylea ones! A great ending for the second season. I wrote more in the official discussion threads as I watched it. 🙂

I am also annoyed by Angel's weird little Cordelia thing. It pops up now and again this season, and it seems so out of place. Granted, Cordy has come a loooong way from where she was in Sunnydale, I just feel like his interest in her is almost a betrayal of Buffy or something. I wouldn't feel like that if it was anyone else, but for him to have a love interest in someone who was at odds with Buffy 97.29347% of the time seems so weird.

Hmm, that's interesting. I don't feel that way, and I'm a big huge 'ole Bangel! I think it grows gradually, although I'm not sure I like how it was done in season 3. But I don't feel that any of Buffy or Angel's relationships were betrayals to the other. It's just life!

I don't know if "betrayal" is the right word, but it just seems off. It is just life. Not sure why it annoys me. I haven't watched S3 yet, so we'll see how I feel after that...

I loved that arc. LA is really not that exciting at all...Pylea was a lot of fun. I remember gasping in horror when I saw Lorne's severed head. I shed a tear hahah my reaction was exactly like Cordelia's when he started talking. What a relief.

Thank you! I totally agree! The entire time I feel like he's betraying Buffy.

I think my biggest problem with the Cordelia/Angel storyline was that it lasted too long, so it felt too serious. I know Buffy loved Riley, but she never loved Spike, and I think the Spike/Buffy storyline was the mirror of Cordelia/Angel -- it shouldn't have been so serious.
