UNLEASHED

The Good;
Especially love the gag of Nina asking Angel if he's Frankenstein and Angel self-consciously rubbing his forehead, Spike's taunting must be getting to him. Nice final scene with Angel making sure to anchor himself to the world once more by hanging out with his friends. The Hyperion has also not been forgotten and a sly dig at Scientology.

The Bad;
A little trite that they give the cryptozoologist to the cult to eat but then abolish the club?

Best line;
Nina; "Angel, he saves a lot of girls?"
Fred; "Girls, guys, puppies, he's pretty much an equal opportunity saver" (presumably Fred has been told of Angel's Orpheus flashback)

Jeez, how did they get away with that?
Nasty scenes with Nina about to be eaten alive

Kinky dinky:
Nina quite reasonably suspects Angel to be a psycho rapist. Well, not lately. Nina naked and chained (anyone else think she looks a little like Sharon Stone?). A fellow student calls and says he missed Nina in the life drawing class which implies she does nude modelling (she certainly has the figure for it).

Captain Subtext;
Wes not so subtly jealous of Knox whom Fred refers to as being 'Under me' and 'On top of'. The comparison of Angel to the werewolf is clear, he cut himself off from humanity to avoid temptation but ended up losing all value for people and lost his human side anyway, just as Angel might have if Doyle hadn't come along.

Know the face, different character; 5

Parking garages;
8,

Guantanamo Bay;
Angel once again tortures ruthlessly

Buffy characters on Angel; 16. It would have been nice if Caine the bounty hunter had shown up but as the actor had also played Sajhan maybe that was impractical.
Wetherby, Collins and Smith. Angel, Cordy, Oz, Spike, Buffy, Wes, Faith, Darla, Dru, The Master, Anne, Willow and Harmony. POSSIBLY The First Evil

What the fanficcers thought;
Plenty of fic where Oz shows up in LA to help Nina out with what he's learned, if ever there was an ep for him to re-occur on Angel this was it.

Missing scenes;

Questions and observations;
Lorne's reading not too good lately. Here's a good game for you, match the car to the AI member in the opening scene. The guys refer to being at WR&H for a month. Does Angel detect the werewolf by his scent? He's met one before, Oz in Phases. Spike still lies a lot. Different werewolf makeup than what we see in Buffy and thank god, much more impressive! Note though that Nina has amnesia for her first few transformations just as Oz had. Note it's Lorne who figures out how to find Nina. When Fred tells Nina that Angel was seeing someone does that mean CC or Buffy? Lorne makes an 'extra weight' remark of Angel, is that a joke on DB? Wes refers to the Initiative or whatever they call themselves nowadays.
Marks out of 10; 7/10, enjoyable standalone ep, reminds you of the sort of thing they used to do in season 1

I like it. Good to see werewolves in Ats. And nah, Nina(Jenny Mollen) looks more like Olsen twins and The Veronicas twins. 🙂

I like Nina/Angel relationship. Fred talking to Nina about Angel saving people is nice. It reminds me of Pylean episodes.

8/10

Or it implies that she takes drawing classes. I honestly feel that life drawing class is entirely un-kinky.

I always liked Nina, from what little we saw of her, and I really wonder if her character would have been developed more if the show had stayed on the air another year or two.

Nina was a welcome addition both as a character and as a nice looking actress .... not sure if I could have tolerated another possible love interest for Angel, but we should have seen more of her.

I didn't like Nina. She had very little characterisation, and was brought back for later episodes despite adding nothing to the story.

I agree, I really like Nina, I would have wanted to see more of hr had we gotten another season.

The epsiode is good but not remarkable.

I actually didn't mind Nina I thought she was cute and nice do I think she could have been a great love no but I wouldn't have minded seeing more of her.
I thought this was a great addition for a werewolf storyline I had missed that once Oz had left. Part of me was hoping he would show up 😉
Overall this episode was pretty good it kind of took Angel back to the beginning in a sense helping the helpless one on one.

I liked the idea of Angel having a new love interest, but I wasn't a big fan of Nina. She was kinda harsh on Angel in "power play" when Angel was trying to protect her from the apocalypse.

Nina was a character that never had a big enough role for me to become invested in her character. When it comes down to Angel you need a strong character alongside him which Buffy, Cordelia and Darla all were. Nina wasn't on screen enough to give any real meaning to the relationship for me.

A good standalone episode, reminded me of the good ole S1 days! Nina in this episode is very likeable. I'm currently doing a rewatch and I don't know if Nina with me stays in that likeableness.

This episode has always been one of my favorites of season 5, I love werewolves... And I also really like Nina, and I like Nangel, actually those few scenes that Angel and Nina had together was way more interesting to me than his entire story with Cordelia.

Another subtle view of Fred's Dixie Chicks poster in her office, definite plus points for that.

As a professional artist, I agree with you completely. There is absolutely nothing kinky about drawing nude models.

And about Nina, I too assumed she was taking life drawing classes, not that she was the model. She did mention she was going to an art school, did she not?

I liked this ep- loved another werewolf story. The werewolf makeup is soooo much better here! Nina is OK, kinda likeable, just not oozing charisma or anything, and Nangel doesn't do a lot for me. I mean, sure they both deserve companionship, but it's not the love of a lifetime or anything.

I really liked the ending- very uncharacteristically happy LOL.

Dr. Royce talked about different types of werewolves, which we've never heard of in the Buffyverse before.

I like Nina. It's nice to have a normal (well, somewhat normal) girl interested in Angel for once. No drama, just a good healthy relationship x3.

I loved the joke about Angel's weight gain. It made me giggle hehe.

I didn't like that the people were going to eat Nina. If I was Angel I would have locked the doors and let Nina run wild on the whole lot of them.

I loved the ending of the episode...a normal, ending..Chinese with friends...in former evil company. Ahahah. Poor Spike...it made me sad to see him like that. And Nina...she's okay, I guess...she seemed nice but certainly not for Angel's love interest.

And I was thinking about Spike..in Just Rewards he didn't seem the BTVS' Spike to me...the way he talked, what he said, even his accent...he seemed off. I hope I can find more of Spike's BTVS as I go further with the episodes.
