It's necessary to post a little explanation here as to the rules of posting on this subject.
The rules as described in the FAQs have become a little fuzzy as a result of the new technology.
In the past Fox has illustrated a little sensitivity as far as people describing methods of downloading episodes. At the time there was not an accepted, commercial method of doing so. Message Boards, and such found it necessary to adopt a policy of no discussion of episode downloading.
Since that time new commercial, methods of downloading, or streaming episodes, and other copyright materials have been offered from the copyright holders. These would include stuff like itunes, and Hulu. You can post about those freely.
There are other methods where the legality is fuzzy. These would include sites like YouTube and Veoh, where there is possibly a commercial element. The board can't keep up on what the copyright holders policy is on those, so there tends to be a little slack exercised on the posting of that kind of stuff. Basically if it's available on the open web via a link, it's allowed until we're told it's not.
There's a third category though. That's what's talked about in the FAQs. This is the stuff copyright holders have illustrated an open hostility towards. Basically were talking anything filesharing, or anything which cannot be downloaded via a click from an open website. There's also a grey area where users can sign up to a site where they can upload material to a digital warehouse, and offer a link for download. We have to be strict about those ones. Pressure from copyright holders demands a rule of no offered information by board, or members as to "How-to" on those. Sorry about that.
Yeah, I know...confusing right? Damned new technology. 😉 Oh well, for the present we can only try to keep up with the rules as they become apparent to us. And now you know as much as we who have to try to enforce the rules given to us from the C H know.
