If Angel had been upfront with Kate in the beginning, would she have felt differently about him?

The scene would have played differently but I don't think she would have felt that different about him. He was still a monster. She'd probably think him crazy at first until he showed her, but it would still go downhill. Especially if he decided to tell her the truth about him the same time as the truth about the bartender. (didn't he lie about that too?)
