I know I shouldn't have read this but I would have found out sooner or later. Why doe's Angel have to end on the death of cast members? Why? WHY?!!!!

Because it's a show about how harsh and hard life can be at times. Whilst it might appear to be a nice idea to have a finale where the bad guys are defeated and the world is made a better and Angel is turned human and Spike goes off with Buffy into the sunset - let's be honest... What's more emotionally effecting? The gang trying to save the world, possibly failing, many dieing, and there being no resolution about Angel's humanity or Buffy. The fight continues. Just like life.

I'm not really sure that it is about how "harsh and hard life can be." Yes, of course it's about how the fight continues, but to end a show (or, really, two shows) on a note that says "you're all going to die for no reason" is really, really not the point. What worked in the "Buffy" finale is that there was no definite resolution, but there was hope. When you kill or otherwise lose the majority of the characters that have fought so hard for so long, hope is a little harder to find.

I don't know. I guess it all depends on how they play it. I would hate to see Wes and Gunn die for no reason except to shock the fans. That would be exceedingly sucktastic.

I should point out Spoiler Slayer reported about an episode of Buffy which was going to air a few years ago called "Buffy The Vampire", in which Buffy was going to be vampired.

It was, of course, complete crap. No spoiler site is always correct.

Nerg. Okay, to tackle this one - I'm not saying any member of the gang should die needlessly. Because, you know, that is needless, and kinda on the empty side. But most of the characters know what they're getting themselves into, and personally I'd be fine with Wes going down in the finale, as long as it is handled properly. He's a hero - a flawed hero, like Angel, and deserves to go out on the hero note. (Since this is the spoiler forum, I should be okay to point out in Episode 17, we start to see that Wesley is developing a bit of alcoholic tendencies - I don't want to remember Wes as an alchy).

With regards to what Angel (The Series) is about - it has morphed over time, in terms of meaning. At one point, the show represented how hard and harsh the world can be (around Season 2). At the moment the show has many dynamics which make it hard to pin, but core themes at the moment are trying to do the right thing, but begin unsure about how to go about it - which would suggest characters putting their lives on the line to do the right thing is a fitting end to the show.

Whatever the case, I'll be watching the finale, and I have confidence in the writer (one Mr Bell, who I know) not to mess it up. You're in good hands.
 
This looks so cool. I guess we're really going out with a bang, better then Chosen, I think.

These come from spoilerslayer.com, which indicates they come from a source proven 100-percent accurate this season. (Meanwhile, Fox News has been reporting since Friday night that as many as six "Angel" TV movies are now in the works. I've not yet been able to confirm yet, though.)

What is it with television execs these days? Folks are going to be scared to like a show for fear that it'll be axed a couple of weeks later? Granted, "Angel", has been going for five seasons, but it's still one of the best written and most entertaining shows on Television. And then there's "˜Wonderfalls', one of the most acclaimed shows of the season, and it didn't even last a handful of episodes. And what I don't get is UPN not picking up "˜Angel', but then going ahead and greenlighting a new sitcom to reunite Corey Haim and Corey Feldman!?. So as you watch your favourite TV show this weekend - be it "˜Gilmore Girls', "˜Smallville', even "˜Access Hollywood' - try not to let anyone know that you're enjoying it too much. Someone who has the power to end that fleeting feeling of elation might just feel the need to do so.

The folks behind this 'Save Angel' campaign have done a remarkable job. Rise from your seat and give them a round of applause. I bet they've given a few WB execs a small feel of guilt - and even a chill down the spine. As for any of the networks that have passed on the obviously popular series, 'watch your back jack', seems a fitting enough warning.

The good news? There's an "Angel/Buffy" movie coming, according to E Online today, the bad news? "Angel" isn't going to get a sixth season. No chance.

E Online's Kristin weighed in with the current status of "Angel" - and, well, nothing's changed. It's still headed for the scrap heap.

"I've spent considerable time over the past few weeks talking to network, studio and production insiders, as well as a few of the actors (we'll get to them below), and I can tell you this with a fair amount of certainty: Angel is not coming back. At least not as the weekly TV series we now know and love. It sucks, and it's wretched and wrong. But the sooner we all accept that, the sooner we can move on", she says.

"It's over," James Marsters (Spike) tells the site. "And we've known for a while. It was a shock. I've never in my wildest dreams thought they would do that. But it's their game, their football, and it seems they want to pass it to someone else."

"It may not have saved the show," he explained, "but what it does for the entire cast and crew is give us a little pop as we go out. Everyone takes notice that we connected well enough with the audience to give them that passion...And I have to tell you, it feels so good. After all these years of, frankly, battling time and money and always having to give up what you were planning to do and getting frustrated, at the end of it, to see everyone really going out of their way to try and save it, it just feels really, really good. So, big warm vampire fuzzies over here. It really took the sting out of getting canceled."

Amy Acker (Fred) also weighed in Thursday before going to set for her final day of shooting. "I guess they had just sort of decided the cancellation was for good, at a point. So, it seems so sad all these people were working so hard and nothing happened. The whole thing has been so sweet, and we all have been like, 'Oh maybe it will work!' But it seems like they're pretty set in their way."

"I just keep crying, and everyone is like, 'Stop it! Or I'll cry, too.' It's hard because last Friday was Alexis' last night, and yesterday was Andy's last day. And today will be everyone's. It's hard to imagine you won't be spending 12 hours a day with them anymore."

Adds Kristin, "That's the consensus I've gotten from various sources -- the WB suits aren't changing their minds on Angel. Though the cancellation seemed like a whack-job, crack-induced whim to us fans, Frog net insiders tell me the higher-ups feel strongly that Angel had "limited moneymaking potential," due to limited advertising revenue and what they consider to be a substantial budget. The fan base is clearly devoted, but these bigwigs see little hope of that audience expanding."

"Still, the best news is this: According to sources, the finale is supremely open-ended (Amy says it "opens new doors" and "doesn't tie up any strings"), and I hear the Powers That Be at the WB have approached Joss Whedon about doing at least a movie-of-the-week or two (possibly as many as six) next season--thanks in large part to the folks at Save Angel. "I think a Buffy movie is more likely to happen now," James said, "and they may be given better budgets, seeing this kind of interest, because there's a feeling that there's a guaranteed audience. So, the effort that I've seen, it is not in vain."

And what's amusing is who's having the last laugh. Charisma Carpenter. Carpenter was fired from "Angel" last season by Whedon. Now, UPN has nabbed Carpenter and has lined her up to star in her own sitcom. The kicker? UPN passed on "Angel".

I just read some more spoilers and I wish I didn't. In the perfect world I'd like the Angel final to be a complete surprise to me. But I am a weak man and I can't resist spoilers. I'll proberly know everything thats going to happen before the episodes airs (damn you spoiler people!).
 
Gaaah, U gotta be kidding me...

They cant just kill off Wesley and Gunn and leave all those loose ends. It's suppose to be the last season final and then we get no answers what so ever. Nothing else but pain and shocking death for the characters we hold dearest. All those times I've spend watching this stupid show - Joss Whedon, thanks for nothing... ::huh:: 😡
 
First: Looks like we're gonna get at least 6 movies.😀
Second: It's not Joss's fault,he didn't plan the show to be cancelled.'Angel' wasn't supposed to end this season.🙁
Third: You haven't seen the episode,you don't know if it is good or not yet😛

I get why you're upset,I am too...I've waited more than 5 years to get Bangel..ya know, the silly perfect final: Human Happy Angel walking on the beach with Buffy or something like that.
But that's not gonna happen...ever...and it's soooo wrong because those characters should end up together...no matter how many Spuffys and Cangels there are,everyone knows Buffy and Angel belong together...but guess what?Jordan Levin dicided to cancel the show and now no one is gonna get the ending they wanted

Did they have to kill of Wesley or did Alexis just not wish to be a part of the Whendonverse anymore? It is nok like he has anything better to do anyway. ::crying::

I was hoping at least to see Alexis Denisof and Eliza Dushku in some of those Angel movies. They R so great together hehe. ::rolf::
 
I know...anyway,it doesn't mean he can't come back...

Buffy,Spike,Angel,Gunn,Darla,Fred,etc died and they kept being a part of the Buffyverse...even Joyce came back a couple of times...

Don't worry,I'm sure the final ep will be nice...not perfect..but better than Chosen for sure

Lets see what's gonna happend. Until then I'll stick with fanfiction. A lot of creative (and twisted) minds out there. Some of them really manage to lift the entire experience to a higher level than Joss Whedon&Co. ::rolf::
 
Well, it at least looks like something I can write a part two for just like with Chosen.

I'd've prefered a tieing up ending, but if it brings us movies, I guess an open ending is fine!
