I find Angel pretty boring and way too broody. Angelus was much more interesting and better played by DB, IMO.

But maybe you think differently. Which do you like more and why? Angel or Angelus?

I prefer Angelus in Btsv and Angel in Ats! Angel in Btsv is boring!
But question: What broody means please? 🙂

"broody" means really serious, deep thinking and contemplative.
For me, in BtVS Angelus is a better character - his evil is just so exciting, and he is so unpredictable because his capacity and passion for torment and destruction is so great. This makes it a thrilling watch whenever he is on screen. He has some great lines aswell.
Some moments are awesome - like in "Passion" with that chase of Jenny and his line "sorry Jenny, this is where you get off" - it gives me shivers everytime, or his fight with Buffy in the rain in "Innocence" and in "Becoming." Some of the most epic moments in BtVS of the entire series have Angelus in them.

However, I do like Angel and he does come into his own in AtS! We see different sides to him we never see in BtVS. He can be really funny - I love his dead pan humour!

Angelus is by far the more interesting character, totally unpredictable and never boring. Spike's description of Angel as being "dull as a table lamp" was exaggerated, certainly, but by no means completely off target. Angel, a lot of the time while in Sunnydale, was little more than a spear bearer in a Shakespearean play. He didn't even make a good Lois Lane to Buffy's Clark Kent. That changed a little, once he got his own show, but even then, a lot of his time between fights was spent just being Wes or Cordy's straight man. I could never see Angel settling for that kind of role.

Angelous, he hurts people. Physical and phsycial. And that brings voltage to the show. And drama. He is more interesting than Angel. But both are still cool!

I like Angel more. I find him a lot more interesting and badass. While Angelus is also very interesting he bugs me a little with his overconfidence. Everytime he get's the upper hand he decides to talk trash which ends up with him getting his ass kicked.

Plus him taking orders and not being in many episodes of season 4 ANGEL ruined him a little for me.

Angelus, I feel that David Boreanaz was able to play him better. Also, Agelus was not brooding as much as Angel. The fact that Angelus wears leather pants may or may not also be a factor in this. 😉

Definitely Angel. Angelus is one-dimensional and pompous, especially in the BtVS. I don't even find him a good villain in early seasons - he is too centered on his grr-argh act , being too frustrated with having to spend 100 years under human soul oppression and all. I somewhat like Angelus in later Angel seasons flashbacks - with Darla, Master and entire fanged four crew especially. But Angel is still more fun - because he is so different in every new situation he is in.

Angelus. Angel's dull as a table lamp. And we have very different coloring. 😛

I like Angelus better: he's very interesting and way more entertaining than Angel (in Btvs). I also think David did a better job with Angelus: his acting was great as Angelus whereas it could be quite bad at times as Angel (just my opinion). Still I have some problems with the whole Angel/Angelus issue, but that's not, well, the issue.

In BtVS it's not even a debate for me! Angelus is awesome, Angel is very very boring. In his own show though, it's wayyy different. Angel was a three-dimensional character, and he was actually funny, cool and interesting. So in the end, I think I'd go with Angel.

When I first started watching Angel (I was 8, maybe) I could not stand Angel. I loved Angelus so.much. Season 2 was (and probably is) my absolute favorite season. However, when I started watching Angel (pretty recently) I really liked Angel haha and it made me sad whenever things would go wrong for him.

I guess I was just a sadistic child and I grew into a touchy feely loser. Ha. That last bit was a joke.

Angelus is my favorite villain of BTVS, becuase he just does some horribly horrendous things, and he knows who do do them to. And I really like Angel in both BTVS and Angel. He's just so gentle in his interactions with Pylea-crazed Fred. That's when I really really started to like Angel.

I didn't really like Angelus in Btvs. He just pissed me off mostly. I feel like all he did was stalk Buffy and kill Jenny...like whoa you're bad.

I prefer him in Ats when he's in a cage and can't do much damage.

I'm not a huge fan of Angel. Can't really get over what he's done. But in Btvs he was definitely boring and in Ats he was ok. He's funny at times, but Angel annoys me in Ats too.

Lol, my brother thinks Angelus is really stupid. He's all like 'Why doesn't he kill Buffy in her sleep? Oh, killing Willow's goldfish? Real badass. That's a sign of true villainy: killing fish.'
(He doesn't like BtVS, though, because he just can't overlook all the plotholes. And he thinks it's really sexist, since only females can be Slayers.)
