Which character did you like the best, I loved angel he was sexy, dark and mysterious and when he was bad, he was very bad!!! Whereas spike i liked him series 2 and 3 but series 4 he just bored me, and i missed Dru loads. The whole spike loves buffy i thought was just kind of sad and to be honest i never really saw spike as that 'bad' a vampire, sure he was a lot stronger etc than your run of the mill vampire but he was too blunt and he tried to hard to be bad or seen as bad, Its like the whole cool factor if your trying to be cool for the sake of being cool you just aint cool!!!

I'm more of a Spike person, he had a lot more character than Angel but still had a dark broody side too him. Angel gets a soul and hides away for 100ish years, at least Spike made something out of it (other than the initial school-basement insanity).

I thought Spike was cooler than Angel, I guess it depends on the definition of the word, but Barry Manilow vs the Sex Pistols/ Ramones etc, not much cool conest there.

I love Spike! He's definitely my favorite of the two. But I loved Spike the most in season 2, 3, and the beginning of four the most. Once he got the chip, I didn't like him as much. Once he got the soul, well, that was just annoying.

I really only liked Angel in season 1 of Buffy and seasons 1 and 5 of Angel. Other than that, he really annoyed me. I loved when he was all mysterious in BtVS season 1.

I liked both alot. I am more of an Angel person though. They were both at their best though when they were together. The second half of Buffy Season 2 when they were both bad was great. Also Season 5 of Angel had many great Angel/Spike moments.

In BtVS I liked Spike better, he and Dru was just so amazing together, and I just think that he is a more interesting character than Angel, don't think he got boring either.. I used to like Angel but the last time I watched season 2 it just felt like he goes around and looks really troubled, he gets a little more interesting in season 3 though imo, with the wondering why he's back and all..

Spike defintley! He way way funner than Angel, I didn't really get to grips with the charater Angel, but I clicked with SPike's character! :: inlove

I guess that we all know who I pick...

Obviously Spike. I loved the attitude and the crazy antics that come up with him. I loved how he could have a compassionate side, and also be wild.

With Angel, he couldn't get over his past. Yes, it was valuable that he was grieving for the evil things that he did, but IMO, Spike just really used his soul more efficiently.

James is a better actor. More charisma, I think.

I like both characters. I can't imagine Spike leading a team. He just doesn't have it in him to become an authority figure of any sort. Or, he would never put himself in that position. Loves his freedom too much.

During most of the shows' runs, the Angel character seemed more versatile, adaptable than Spike. Obviously, a soul changes the equation for a vamp. But the Spike character truly was as fleshed out as Angel by the end. (Spike was definitely the most humanized soulless vamp that ever existed in the 'verse.)

I think James made Spike more compelling than David made Angel compelling"”just through sheer acting ability (and I'm just commenting on Angel, not Angel/Angelus).

I think they both had complex storylines that forced each one to grow, change over time"”Spike was the more radical transformation.

I liked both characters as they both posessed different qualities in each other that I liked, for instance I liked Angel's "Softness" at times and his ability to lead a team at the same time. Spike on the other hand had this "I don't care" air about him and was a lot less reserved than what I found Angel to be (my opinion), and I found him to be hilarious almost all the time! So I guess in a way, I lean more towards Spike as the character I liked best for the reasons I stated above and also because I really enjoyed seeing this character grow more.

I dont really think he was that funny, i liked the episode in series 4 when he finds out he can hit demons and he does his whole lets go fight evil speech but apart from that I didnt think he was witty, his humour was more a football in the groin humour, although its fair to say that angel was never really funny but still he was cool and way sexier/mysterious!!!

Spike was my favorite until he was pretty much castrated by Buffy. In season 2 he was sooooo great!! Then he got all weepy and blubbery and pathetic and I could hardly stand to watch him.

Angel overall was better I think because he had both a good and a bad side to him and he never seemed pathetic to me.....he was madly in love with Buffy and he left her because he knew she was better off without him....Spike was too self involved...he would never be able to do that.

I also didn't like the fact that Spike tried to rape Buffy....that's something Angel would never do.

My vote goes with Angel.

SPIKE!! he wins over angel every time!! his character had so much more to him than angel i mean, with angel, he was either bad, or he was good, there wasn't much middle ground, (except for that bit in S2 of ATS)
with spike, he was a bit of a geek when he was human, he turned into a majorly badass vamp, killing to slayers, then he was like the annoying roommate you just couldn't get rid off, then he decided to work with the scoobies and became a member of the team, he fell in love with buffy, became her boytoy, then he got his soul back, and became a champion!
so much more interesting than angel!!

I can't pick between them because they are two of my fave characters.I think they were both very good because they were so different from each other.I also loved watching them together in AtS season 5.They were hilarious.

Angel is 10 times better then spike! A much better bad guy and a Much better Good Guy!

Yea its nice to see that Angel felt remorse for all the people he killed while Spike was able to get over it so much faster. ( I don't mean that in a good way)

Angel had no one when he got a soul. Spike was surrounded by people that helped him through it.

David is a better actor and Angel is better than Spike. There's no comparison. ::tongue::

I have never liked Angel - souled or souless. One, he's a control freak who doesn't know how to control his own life.

My choice is Spike. He's more complex than Angel and James Marsters is, without a doubt, the best actor in the entire series.

I don't think Spike is more complex at all....he's definitely more pathetic and selfish though.

I thought Angel's character was way more of a complex character. I don't think he's a control freak at all.....Spike is way more like that (he tried to rape Buffy!!).
I disagree that Angel doesn't know how to control his own life. He took control when he decided to leave Buffy even though he loved her more than anything. He could have just stayed anyway and been selfish but he didn't.
