Angel original character spinoff series

Hi,i got a fun hypothetical for you. If ,after canceling ATS, the WB had of offered Joss Whedon a spinoff series from ATS which ORIGINAL ATS character would you have liked to see? and which do you think would have been most successful? (note: by original i mean a character that originated on ATS ,not BTVS) have fun 🙂 My favorite would be an Illyria spinoff or an internal supernatural drama about W&H.

Aright, so since I can't pick Wesley, my answer would be a Doyle spin-off, prior to him dying, the final episode of the series being when he met with Angel. I just feel like there as so much more to his story that wasn't explored.

My second pick would be an Illyria/Fred spin off.

Ooh, this, too. I was so upset when I realized that Gwen wouldn't be coming back. Hate what they did to her character in the IDW comics. (Don't know if they redeemed her, I gave up soon after that, lol)

Also, I'd REALLY like to know just what exactly Lindsey got up to after he left LA.

Given the criteria as presented, the choices are pretty slim if you only consider the principal cast characters. Expand the scope a little, and you could have Lorne running his own P I company with Illyria, Nina, and Gwen Raiden called "Lorne's Angels." A hell god, a werewolf, and an electric girl. The bad guys wouldn't have a chance.

Gwen, Nina or Lorne could have been used for a spinoff pretty easily. Gwen's character really could have offered several different possibilities/directions that the creators could have gone in.

I also like the idea of taking The Black Thorn and creating some sort of evil supernatural show based around them.

How about a not really kids' show with "It's Smile Time" Angel and all the other characters reduced to puppets? If you ever watched Kermit, Lorne would seem normal.

Totally! I always loved Gwen and wished we'd gotten to see more of her. 🙂

Other than Gwen, I would have loved to see a Gunn series. I don't feel like Gunn got enough love.

Some ideas for Connor Spinoff?

What happened to him in Quor'toth?
What happened to him when he recovered the true memories?
How does he come to terms with Connor Holtz, Connor Angel and Connor Reilly and not go crazy?

I kinda like a Groo, figuring out his way in the world, while fighting demons spin off.

Love the Wolfram and Hart idea, maybe starting off before Angel arrived in LA, when Linsdey and Lilah first joined, or even earlier than that, they've been around forever afterall, and are all over the world.

A W+H spinoff would be pretty cool, and, talking realistically, could be done with mostly new characters, too (some aspiring new lawyers, some of their colleagues, etc.), with the odd AtS actor making an appearance, if they couldn't get in someone like Christian Kane or Stephanie Romanov to play a major role.

A Lorne spinoff could have worked, I think his empath abilities could have been utilised well in a detective/ crime show, as Angel started out in it's early seasons. Obviously, it would probably have been a bit lighter in tone and less heavy on the action, because, y'know, Lorne.

Illyria could be interesting, adjusting to the mortal world, finding herself a role within it.

Connor - I would have loved to see Connor's upbringing in Quor-toth, his relationship with Holtz and his growing feelings of abandonment, curiosity and hatred towards Angel.

Doyle - So much potential wasted. Ugh, the opportunities with Doyle, his background, his marriage, his demon half ... I would watch a Doyle spin off in a heartbeat.

Gwen - Her origin story, her journey to becoming a thief, her overall character; all prime for a spin-off. Plus they could have brought Gunn in as a love interest! (I love the idea of a Gwen/Gunn ship).

Lindsay - Not my favourite person but I'll never deny that Lindsay is fascinating as a character. I would have loved to see his poor beginnings, his struggle through college and his conflict with being recruited by W&H.

Fred - To see her background, her early years and then her life in Pylea would have been amazing. Plus we could see Fred being the BAMF that she is instead of being relegated to the Damsel In Distress role.
