I come from over at buffy worlds forums (btw whats with the URL filtering? not trying to promote anything but damn thats ****ing annoying)

They don't seem to like people asking questions, at least in their own thread. They have a giant stickied thread for "any questions you may have" but no one hardly reads those threads and no one replies to them. Making your own thread just means an admin locks it and gives you a warning for disobeying rules...

Anyways, I've got a good handful of questions about Angel. I got hooked mid season 5, I immediately obtained seasons 1-4 and loved them. So naturally I had some questions along the way.

**Some SPOILERS may follow**

since my question thread was locked and no one bothers to reply...ill repost my questions (thanks to the few who did reply to my thread, least i got SOME response there).

In season 4 of AtS, Wesley got those bad ass blades/steaks/retractable swords that he had up his sleeves.

Yet...
in NFA, he uses a FISHING KNIFE to try and kill Val??!?!??! lemme get this straight, dude has these bad ass blades that can be shot out of his sleeves, a sword that just pops out, etc but nooo he has to use a normal little knife... If he lost them or they got destroyed in season 4 (dunno havent finished watching it) why couldnt he just replace them?

In season 5,
In NFA, how come Angel didn't get backup from allies? I know they had to keep things secret but I'm sure he could have told one of the gang to contact people. People from the past that could help, the fire demon Princess from another dimension, Grousalog, etc surely they'd fight for a worthy cause.

In late season 3 (maybe early 4 but pretty sure late season 3), Angel and I believe Wesley go to a book shop asking about something (sorry I cant remember what). This is long after they've returned from Pylea and such, moved onto fighting other things. Anyway, as Angel and Wes (maybe Gunn) are walking past the stacks, you can clearly see one of the red WR&H books on top of a shelf. I doubt they brought them back from Pylea and even if they did, why would one be in some random book store? Just a throw back to that or what?

If Skip was working for Jasmine, what was he, aside some looking like a demon? I mean, did he honestly at some point work for TPTB? If so wouldn't they have known of his soon to be deception aganist them?

Whatever happened to the rich guy David? I missed seeing him run in with his purple cape and sword.

Been a while since I watched season 4, but I don't recall Gwen dying. No closure for her?

What was Jasmine's "real" name?

Correct me if I am wrong here: Angel gets his soul back from "true happiness", which we know comes from 2 things, sex and a certain drug. So in season 4, why go through all the trouble of removing his soul, risking it all, when they coulda just scored some of what that chick had in (season 2?) and used it? It's temporary, and they could use a dose by dose basis.

Also, if sex removes Angel's soul, how come he and Darla didn't cause him to revert back? I know they tried to give the whole "im the one that made you, so you can't take what you made" thing but it wasn't clear and they barely touched on it.

If Lilah could meet with a senior partner to discuss her boss from season (3?), how come Angel and gang couldn't arrange some meeting in the end of season 5 to go mono a mono with them instead of the Black Thorn?

Any reason why at the end of season 4 we see one "set" for WR&H yet in season 5, there is a completely different set? Budget issues? heh..just a curiousity on that one

Whatever happened to Dru? It's been a good while since I saw Buffy season 6/7 and I don't remember her showing up in season 5 of Angel. Pretty sure she died somehow.

Where does Lindsay get his demon strength, mentioned in NFA, from? I know he got the "evil" hand from the donor, but the writing kill kill kill was just a sign of wanting the guy to have his suffering ended. Are we to believe he has super strength from one normal humans hand, or was it part of the process from the demon Shaman that attached it?

What exactly is Angel doing in LA to begin with? I know, he wanted to stay close to Buffy and all, but Giles does mention several times in Buffy there is a hellmouth in Detroit if I recall right. You'd think he'd fight evil on a more greater front such as that.

In NFA, Angel and gang kill the "major" players of the Black Thorn. Yet when Angel meets with the, there are obviously many more than are shown that are killed. Despite the more powerful being killed, wouldn't they try to go after the others as well?

I think I bought them on E-bay.

-In season 5, In NFA, how come Angel didn't get backup from allies? I know they had to keep things secret but I'm sure he could have told one of the gang to contact people. People from the past that could help, the fire demon Princess from another dimension, Grousalog, etc surely they'd fight for a worthy cause.

He knew that they fought a losing fight. They had all accepted their fates as future martyrs, and as such, were not going to drag anyone else into such a Custer situation against Evil Powers that are insanely vengeful.

-In late season 3 (maybe early 4 but pretty sure late season 3), Angel and I believe Wesley go to a book shop asking about something (sorry I cant remember what).

?????????, Angel and Wes were not on same house terms at the end of S3
-If Skip was working for Jasmine, what was he, aside some looking like a demon? I mean, did he honestly at some point work for TPTB? If so wouldn't they have known of his soon to be deception aganist them?

He was a holy demon that did the dirty work of the PTB. He was also a merc for the PTB. He was working for a PTB in primming Cordy (Jasmine was a PTB, remember, she just cared "so much") , and he probably felt it was a cause he could get behind. When you first see him, he is a prison guard for a PTB that easily may not have been "Jasmine"

-Whatever happened to the rich guy David? I missed seeing him run in with his purple cape and sword.

I don't know, off telling Bill Gates where to stick it??

-Been a while since I watched season 4, but I don't recall Gwen dying. No closure for her?

Not dead, she had a tryst with Gunn and then was never brought back again.

-What was Jasmine's "real" name?

???????, I believe that her true name was in an alien language, and thus, incomprehensable.

-Correct me if I am wrong here: Angel gets his soul back from "true happiness", which we know comes from 2 things, sex and a certain drug. So in season 4, why go through all the trouble of removing his soul, risking it all, when they coulda just scored some of what that chick had in (season 2?) and used it? Not sex itself, as he has discovered, but sex with Buffy. She is his salvation, the thing that made him want to be a better "man". Of course she is his truest love. Also, the drug mearly simulated true bliss, not cause that one true moment of happiness. He is just thinking he's evil, he wouldn't have had the unaltered memories of Angelus.

-Also, if sex removes Angel's soul, how come he and Darla didn't cause him to revert back? I know they tried to give the whole "im the one that made you, so you can't take what you made" thing but it wasn't clear and they barely touched on it.

Again, Darla had never made Angel happy. Angelus just had a deep connection with her. She was his Yoda of evil and murder, as well as lover.

-If Lilah could meet with a senior partner to discuss her boss from season (3?), how come Angel and gang couldn't arrange some meeting in the end of season 5 to go mono a mono with them instead of the Black Thorn?

Lilah may have been glorifying her meetings. Then again, if the liason is suppose to be the earthly right hand of the SP, one may assume he would be the Senior Exec's boss.

-Any reason why at the end of season 4 we see one "set" for WR&H yet in season 5, there is a completely different set? Budget issues? heh..just a curiousity on that one

aSK AGAIN LATER.

-Whatever happened to Dru? It's been a good while since I saw Buffy season 6/7 and I don't remember her showing up in season 5 of Angel. Pretty sure she died somehow.

Nope, just burnt.

-Where does Lindsay get his demon strength, mentioned in NFA, from? I know he got the "evil" hand from the donor, but the writing kill kill kill was just a sign of wanting the guy to have his suffering ended. Are we to believe he has super strength from one normal humans hand, or was it part of the process from the demon Shaman that attached it?

And Lorne said in NFA that even without the demon strength he was quite a swordsman. I guess he didn't have it in the end. It was gone with the ink.

-What exactly is Angel doing in LA to begin with? I know, he wanted to stay close to Buffy and all, but Giles does mention several times in Buffy there is a hellmouth in Detroit if I recall right. You'd think he'd fight evil on a more greater front such as that.

Cleaveland actually. Besides, he knew Cali better, he'd been there for quite some time.

-In NFA, Angel and gang kill the "major" players of the Black Thorn. Yet when Angel meets with the, there are obviously many more than are shown that are killed. Despite the more powerful being killed, wouldn't they try to go after the others as well?

Remember that Spike took out a large group, as well as Lindsay (excellent swordsmanship), and Illyria took out three major players after one of their routine dinners. They trook out the worst of them, probably severly crippling the rest's ability to function.

that clears up some things, thanks

but a few new ones arise ;p

If Wesley (I assume you meant him not yourself) got them off Ebay, couldn't he just find the makers of them and get another pair? It was just really really lame he comes in on Val, magicks and all, and tries to finish him with a god damn fishing knife...

If Jasmine was a PTB, does that mean TPTB ARE infact mortal, at the very least in the human plane of existance? If so, how come there haven't been any attempt by the darker sides, aka WR&H/Black Thorn etc to drag TPTB from their currect dimension into ours and just killing them ala what Connor did to Jasmine?

And if Jasmine was a PTB, isn't that kinda messed up? I mean she did want to help, but from a writing stand point/story stand point what kind of "god" (which is what some assume TPTB are) not only needs to eat people to live on earth but decides "ok, lets create the perfect world, but you have no free will"? Isn't that like one giant hypocritical paradox? PTB that look over/govern/interviene when nesscary and keep the overall score in balance, yet one decides to come to our world and undo one of the very things PTB have given, free will?

It may have been Angel and Gunn in the book shop. I know Wesley split off from the gang season 3/4. But regardless, they are in a demon/magicks bookshop, and as they go down the isles you can definitely see a WR&H book like from Pylea, on top of a shelf (front side view). People have answered this with the fact that "maybe there are copies in other worlds". Well, if that holds true as Wesley finds out since Lilah had books from the black dimensional market that were not tampered with as Wesley's was. Meaning, the gang knows other worlds have copies of books. Since Wesley read the Pylea WR&H books, wouldn't it make sense that once he learns of other copies in other worlds he'd check Earth's world for a copy of a series of books, that holds key information about WR&H?

Magic 8 ball answer to the set question? 😛

And a more indepth question, sorta: Since theres another Hellmouth in Cleveland, and probably other areas of Earth, prior to Willow's slayer spell in Buffy season 7 finale "Chosen", what the hell kept the world going? I mean, you got Angel protecting LA, proventing whatever world ending stuff there. Buffy doing Sunnydale, not far from LA. That's one good demon, and one slayer. Faith was in jail. No other Slayers. Even if you count in rogue groups like Gunn's crew who fight to keep their neighborhoods safe from vamps and demons, how many of these groups especially in cleveland, have the knowledge and resources to stop an apocolypse associated with a hellmouth? The Watchers Council? They have the brains but when a single Slayer can take out some of their best guys, I'm thinkin a Big Bad would whipe the floor with them. There's the Witches Coven in England or whereever, but considering how they barely had the strength to stop Willow...you couldn't count them to soley protect the other 98% of the globe.

I ask cause, yea it's tv and you just worry about LA and Sunnydale. But when you think about it, all the sh!t that goes down in just TWO towns in the whole earth, there's gotta be big bad's slipping through the cracks somewhere.

Guess he moved on, who knows.

Kinda closure, she got to touch someone without shocking them but no big red ribbon no.

What was Jasmine's "real" name?

Whatever the demon whispered, and im guessing it was in a different language.

Angel gets his soul back from perfect happiness. Sex doesn't always gurantee that (Which pissed Darla off when she didn't supply him that). If you're forced to have sex I presume its far from perfect happiness, Angel may have performance anxiety (which would be funny).

Any reason why at the end of season 4 we see one "set" for WR&H yet in season 5, there is a completely different set? Budget issues? heh..just a curiousity on that one

Just different sets I suppose, maybe budget issues. Maybe they're just different parts of the same building (W&H building that is). Angel's office looks similar.

What exactly is Angel doing in LA to begin with? I know, he wanted to stay close to Buffy and all, but Giles does mention several times in Buffy there is a hellmouth in Detroit if I recall right. You'd think he'd fight evil on a more greater front such as that.

He never went to "fight the good fight", he wanted to get away from Buffy and to try and isolate himself from everyone else. L.A. is good for that. Also he has a history with LA, he stayed there in the 50s at least and I believe he was there before Sunnydale anyway.

Well, Wesley wasn't in the right mind set to do common sense things.

If Jasmine was a PTB, does that mean TPTB ARE infact mortal, at the very least in the human plane of existance? No idea

The realer reason she was there is to be warship by better beings then the grasshopper demons.

Magic 8 ball answer to the set question? 😛
Never doubt the answer of the Magic 8 Ball

I think there was more "Fight since it's right" people.

You think to much. I do the same.

Wesley did not get his swords from ebay-that was a joke.

As for the PTB/Jasmine question, I always understood her as being a "Fallen" PTB-not working for the side of good, but using her PTB powers for evil.
