Possibly if the intent was a reaching out and pulling back towards you kind of cut, but my thinking on that would be that using it that way, while increasing the overall reach, would also reduce speed and cutting power, The real limitation is the blade configuration. With that kind of blade, the upper edge is just short of useless and the forward edge, or more accurately, point, would only work properly in a raking sort of motion, certainly the primary intention of an agricultural tool, but not particularly effective against an armed opponent.
On the other hand, a Japanese naginata with its somewhat similar blade configuration, though with the curve going up and outward as opposed to down and inward, or the similar European poleaxe variations, could be used for anything from taking the legs out from under foot soldiers or horses to beheading mounted troops. The key here would be blade configuration, and while these stage weapons might look impressive, their primary purpose is to look exotic and dangerous, not to be particularly effective in a real fight.
And this thing does look awesome, however Angel swings it.
