Angel Season 1 vs. Buffy Season 1 Ratings

Did both series' premiere seasons have low ratings? I heard that BTVS Season 1 had the worst ratings on the WB but luckily got renewed
 
According to wikipedia, Angel's Season 1 had a higher average (4.9million) than all of its following seasons.
The 4th season had the lowest average.

And Buffy's 7th season had even lower ratings than the first season.

Yes, that's not a surprise to me either.
I like all seasons, but the 7th season is my least favorite (but it has still some great episodes in it).
