Angel Season 5 vs. Buffy Season 7

No debate about it for me, Angel season 5. Buffy season 7 was awful

- The Potentials were annoying
- Characters were pushed to the back. Why were Giles, Xander, Dawn and Faith even in this season?
- The Core Four was ruined. They had the opportunity to bring back the bond they had in seasons 1-3,5
- Giles became a punching bag for Spuffy
- Kennedy/Willow are easily the worst relationship in the show
- The First was lame as hell...Caleb was better
- Buffy's house IMO is the worst HQ they ever had
- No groundbreaking episodes like "OMWF", Hush, Passion, The Zeppo, The Gift, etc.

Angel season 5 was awesome

- Angel got a new look, he ran a big and beautiful company
- It offered some morality, was Angel right or wrong by joining W&H?
- Spike and Angel together. Enough said.
- NOOOO Fred! Why did you die?
- Lindsey was back, and more badass than ever
- Cordelia got a beautiful send-off (although I still wanted her in season 5)
- The whole cast got new settings, which kept them fresh
- The last episode was amazing

Agree with every sentence. LOL at Buffy's house as the HQ.

Angel Season Five

It was an amazing season, Wolfram and Hart looked so big and comfy, and looked like it had good air conditioning...

With Angel S5, for me, I got Spike back, Illyria, two episodes with Andrew, great episodes like A Hole in the World, Smile Time, You're Welcome, and a few others.

The deaths affected me more in Not Fade Away than the deaths affected me in Chosen, you can guess why.

They could have done so much more with Buffy S7, but they did something very disappointing to me :/

I agree with all of this.

Okay I used to say Buffy season seven for Spike but since Angel season five has Spike Angel season 5.

I think Angel season five was a better last season. I mean it introduced new problems added a different feel to the show but still maintained the show. I also think it concluded rather well. I don't really HATE the potentials I mean I find them boring a majority of the time out of all the seasons past of Buffy but yes I just like Angel season five more.

Like someone else said I was way more connected to the Angel characters in general so the deaths got me way worse. Beside for one character on Buffy in Chosen it did not affect me half as much as the deaths of season five. Those rank with my other shows.

Angel, as a whole, took some risks which Buffy didn't take which worked towards its favor on many occasions (though overall I still prefer Buffy).

AtS kept its characters single longer and more often than Buffy's characters which allowed for amazing character development for Angel's characters.

AtS also took characters and separated them from the group (Cordelia, Angel in season two, Wes in season four, Gunn in season five) which also allowed for amazing character development.

Every season the Big Bad was basically WR&H which almost always gave Angel a threatening, high stakes, opponent.

AtS frequently took the characters out of their comfortable setting (Pylea, Las Vegas, WR&H, ) which was an interesting change of pace.

I don't think it's very fair for me to judge Angel S5 since I've only seen the series once.

I honestly didn't really dig either season. I did not like how the Fang Gang took over W&H. I did not like how the stupid potentials drove a wedge between the core four. How all my Fang Gang peeps died off in the final season! How Faith comes back for one last hoo-rah!? No thanks. I'm like WTH?!

If I had to chose. If I was being threatened at gun point...Angel. Smile Time=WINNING!

I'm going to have to go with BtvS s7. And here's why:

Angel s5 was great in its second half. I love the Fred/Illyria arc and the Lindsey plot. That said, the first half of the season felt disjointed. I know its because the network wanted stand-alone episodes, but I'm not a fan of that structure. I like full arcs. And I think the last few episodes of Angel were great, but rushed.

BtVS had a fuller arc at the end. And I"m IN LOVE with the idea behind The First. Plus, Caleb was a great villain, too. I think the full arc worked better than Angel's rushed ending arc. So while both were super good, I have to say Buffy wins this one for me.

Finally someone i agree with haha.

Angel Season 5. It just seemed better put together and while I feel Buffy Season 7 did a good job of closing off the series, Angel did it better, had better episodes, and had such an awesome ending.
