Angel - Season one (Review)

I love the first season of Angel, especially the first few episodes where Doyle was such a big part of the show. I thought the dynamic, the chemistry, between Angel, Cordy and Doyle was some of the best stuff we ever see on the show. All three of them just really fit together (no easy feat with three cast members). I loved the feel and the tone of the first season, where all the characters were in their lives and how they came together. And I felt like the city of Los Angeles itself was utilized brilliantly. It was just perfect for the show.

I agree. Season one gets a bad rap but after rereading the essay by Kita I felt like I needed to rewatch the show and I'm loving it. You can see in each new episode the changes in the characters, particularly Angel. You can see how they are becoming a team and were on their way to be a family. Even the "bad" episodes have great character developments for the core cast so they remain worthwhile. And I totally agree, the tone and use of L.A. as character in the story were wonderful.
