I freaking love Angel. He is probably in my Top 5 characters(but It changes often). He is the most complex and interesting character on the Buffyverse.I will always love him so much.I just love him.He is like my son.

But I will NEVER AND EVER ship him with Buffy. He just deserves better than being a love interest.

Does anyone agree with me?I feel so alone with this opinion.

I like
Angel x Human Darla
Angel x Cordelia
Angel x Kate Lockley
Angel x Lindsey
Angel x Gwen
Angel x Illyria
Angel x Lilah
Angel x Willow
Angel x Nina
Man even Spike and Riley or even even Xander has more sexual tension/chemistry with him than Buffy

Well I agree that he was better when was a fun, Bladesque hero in his own show, but I think he needed the relationship with Buffy to set him up for that. Also Angelus is at his most effective in season 2 due to having Buffy to play off of.

It's quite funny in a way, good Angel is much better without Buffy, whilst bad Angel in his own show without Buffy and the Scoobies to torment came over as more of a clown.

Personally I think that Angel and Buffy is the best pairing in either show, purely for story reasons. It not only led to great story arcs, but allowed all the other characters a chance to shine too, like Giles and Willow (who became a Witch through ensouling Angel.) Buffy and Spike in contrast pushed the others into the background in S7, whilst Riley was a plank of wood.

Xander and Buffy meanwhile I wouldn't have liked as it would have been too much of a dogged nice guy getting the girl cliche. Not saying those stories can never work, but it wouldn't have gone well with that show.

I despise Angel and Cordelia sorry, but that to me is almost like a crack ship. (Not as bad as Cordelia and Connor mind you LOL.) Fred's crush on Angel was a bit sweet, but couldn't go on, whilst Illyria and Spike is a better pairing than Illyria and Angel IMO. I never thought Illyria liked Angel at all. She seemed to develop at most, a tolerance for him.

Angel and Kate meanwhile I would have liked to have seen develop a really close friendship after he saved her rather than a romance. To me Angel just should never be in a relationship with a normal woman, which is probably why him and the Werewolf girl worked a bit better than other attempts to give him a romance.

Lindsey meanwhile sorry, I love them as archenemies and honestly never got where the whole subtext came from with them. To me this is just another example of people insisting every feud has to be sexual which is a trend I don't like.

Their feud is awesome meanwhile. Especially how it ends LOL.

You know, I don't think there is enough love for Angel and Kate in the Buffyverse fandom. They had a super complicated relationship, and I really do love their arc. If Elizabeth didn't do the absolute MOST and get cast on the biggest American franchise of the late 90s/early00s as an ADA, I really would have loved to see her continue on in Angel. I could see her joining Angel Investigations in season 3 to legitimize the PI business and have some conflict with Cordelia. That angle actually could have worked really well, instead of the forced Cangel in season 3. Cordy would still be miffed that Angel slept with Darla from a "you could have lost your soul" perspective, but Kate would have been hurt from the "we had a thing, didn't we?" perspective.

Actually, the plan for Kate in season 3 was to team up with Holtz, taking Justine's place. She would have been pout the rest of season 2, but come back for 3. However, she got the ADA role on L&O and chose to not renew (and can't really blame her).

Not doubting you, but I have been following this show for over 20 years and have never heard this. Did you read this somewhere? I was under the impression that she left because of her landing the L&O gig. And Epiphany was her character’s swan song. But I could DEFINITELY be wrong.
