Okay, I couldn't help myself. 😀 Written off the cuff, haha. So there'll be mistakes and whatnot. Now I think I'm going to be late for work...
The Love Apocalypse
"Well, well." Spike peered around the arena, a wide grin on his face. "Isn't this... interesting?"
"What are you doing here, Ass-Face?" Riley said, frowning. "I'm supposed to be on a training mission."
"Flash of light get you?" Spike replied. "Came in the bloody nick of time for me and the poofter here. Hear that, Angel? Your dragon was about to turn us to dust."
"I could have taken it." Angel whined, before turning quickly to one side of the arena. "Who's that?" he said, when he spotted the dark-haired man cowering in the corner.
"Pillock Buffy shagged a few years back," Spike said, feigning disinterest. His eyes flashed gold and he felt his fangs itching.
"Wh-what's going on?" Parker asked, his eyes darting around as though he were looking for the nearest exit.
"Haven't a bloody clue," Spike said. "But--"
"WELCOME!" The voice boomed out across the arena. "TO THE LOVE APOCALYPSE! BUFFY, SLAYER OF THE VAMPYRES, HAS HAD FEELINGS FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU AT SOME POINT IN THE PAST. BUT WHO IS WORTHY? WHO IS THE BEST? THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO FIND OUT... LET THE BATTLE COMMENCE!"
A loud honking sound signalled the start of the match and Spike slid into game face immediately. Love apocalypse? He'd win it, course he would.
Parker stayed in the corner, cowering and whimpering. He wouldn't be a problem, then. Sure enough, a few moments later he left the arena, shaking his head and mumbling about 'crazies'.
Angel and Riley were circling each other, the vampire occasionally growling and the soldier's fists raised in a battle pose. Spike grinned and leaned back against the railing, wishing he had a cigarette. Looked like he could just leave them to it and come out on top.
The fight continued, Spike occasionally cheering on one or the other--though not seriously, he didn't want either wanker to win. Minutes passed and the fight got dirtier and bloodier. Angel had a slash of blood across his cheek and Riley's hand was hanging at a crooked angle.
Spike was so entranced in watching the fight that he almost didn't feel the tap on his shoulder. Whirling around, he came face to face with Buffy and....
"Andrew? Bloody hell, should have known it was you. Vampyres." He shook his head, wondering why he was talking to Andrew when Buffy was standing there, looking wonderfully angry. "Slayer," he breathed, his eyes drinking her in.
"Hi, Spike." She smiled. Turning to Andrew, "Go and stop those two from fighting."
"Me?" Andrew squeaked. "But... they're scary! And tall!"
"Yes, you. You started this. Go! I want to talk to my vampire."
"Yours, pet?" Spike smirked. "Didn't know that I was."
"Yes, you big dummy. Why didn't you tell me you were back? I had to hear it from Andrew of all people!"
Spike had the good grace to look ashamed. He glanced to the ground and sighed. "Sorry, love. Thought you wouldn't want me messing up yor life."
"I meant what I said in the Hellmouth," she replied, cupping his face.
"Oh."
"Yeah, oh."
They stared at each other tremulously before both moving at once, kissing again and again until Buffy became breathless. Linking hands, they left the arena together, leaving the other three men gaping after them.
"Well," Andrew said. "Looks like Spike is the winner of The Love Apocalypse without even trying. Yay, Spike!"
He received nothing but two murderous glances in reply.
