In Chosen Angel says the First tried to make him kill himself but it actually tried to make Angel kill Buffy and Angel decided to kill himself to stop this happening.
They made a mistake...again,right?

EDIT:Source

Very true!
But I guess they may have meant it that the First did play a role in Angel trying to kill himself.

The First's initial plan was for Angel to revert back to Angelus and kill Buffy, but when he decided that he would rather kill himself than hurt Buffy, they went along with that.

Jenny: You're not supposed to die. This isn't the plan. But it'll do.

So, maybe it was a back up plan 🙂

Does anyone think that the reason it wanted Angel to become Angelus or kill itself, is because it knew about the amulet and wanted to stop it from happening? But then it turned out to be Spike and that's why it wanted to mess with him.

That's an interesting idea. In season 7 we were told that The First was tired of balancing evil and good and that when the slayer line had been disturbed it took the oppurtunity to play out its plan. That would imply that the First had a plan long before the Slayer Line had been tampered with, that even in Season 3 The First was planning something.

Hmm. . . wow, I honestly never thought that before, but now that you mention it, it really makes sense!

I always thought it was because Angelus was evil, and he could be someone the First could have on his side -- or someone that'd kill Buffy.

But; I like your theory. Really, it's awesome!

It could be that the First knew that the Slayer line would be extended, making the balance between good and evil more solidified - and that a resurrected Slayer and a souled vampire would help bring this about. In S3, Buffy had already been resurrected once, and a souled vampire (Angel) was in Sunnydale. So the First made its move in "Amends".

But, Angel left Sunnydale and the First believed it had nothing to worry about. Until S6, when Buffy came from the dead again . . . and Spike regained his soul at the end of the season. And returned to Sunnydale before S7.

can you guys tell me what you guys are talking about in here cause i have no clue and its being awhile since i have been on here? and i would really like it if someone could help me out thanks diana

LadyLavinia - lovely theory. I think I will have to go back and see "Amends" and compare it to the events in s7. I always thought that facing the First Evil was a bit too "easy" in s3, so I wasn't all that surprised when it came back in s7, but I never put those two together that way.
