WB wants more Angel

Network chairman offers Joss TV movie deal.

Garth Ancier, chairman of The WB network, has approached Joss Whedon to make a series of Angel telefilms.

"[We] have an offer on the table to Joss to do movies," Ancier told the press during the network's autumn press preview in Los Angeles. "When Joss and David Boreanaz are both interested in doing it at the same time, I'm sure we will be doing Angel movies. Certainly Joss would like to. David will take a bit more coaxing, but I think he will do it."

Ancier also revealed that the WB weren't entirely to blame for Angel's cancellation in the first place. He claimed that pressure from producer 20th Century Fox Television forced their hand.

"They had pushed for an early decision on whether the show should come back or not. Had they not pushed for the early renewal, or, conversely, if we had said, 'You know what? Let's wait till we get to the scheduling room in May and decide then,' ... the show may or may not have been back. But I think we would have had that opportunity to discuss it. I think the mistake that was made is that between us and 20th, we didn't wait until May. We just made the decision early based upon their request."

OOOO that makes me so happy 😀😀😀 I hope they make some. Life without Angel is so boring..:sigh: put readin that gave me hope, woohoo :happy07:
thanks for sharing TheChosenOne :: tu ::

I saw this on the BBC Cult site earlier but you beat me to the post 😛 Damn this work I get paid to do...

It kind of confirms rumours that have been circulating (I think I've seen them here somewhere - Whedonverse forum, N4H?) if the BBC are publishing it as news (well it does for me...) Let's hope something comes from it now.

The BBC don't usually print something that is not true so fingers crossed.

I hope they get all the Angel cast and maybe some of the Buffy lot too ::dance::

Yeah, Magui posted about this in the Future of Angel forum yesterday. I've been reading about it all over the place actually. I posted a little squib about it in Whedonwatch, but I'm not as hopeful as others seem to be.

The story as far as Ancier saying it, is true, but does the WB have the inside track on any future Angel projects? I'll believe that when I see signatures.

This story is nothing new really. The WB seems to come out with it whenever they get those "How could you be so stupid to cancel Angel" questions. The last word we heard from Joss on the subject it was kind of like "Yeah they mentioned it, but no real offers".

The WB used to just drop hints about these proposed Angel mini-movies. Ancier is a little clearer when talking about his willingness to begin than Levin used to be, but he can afford to be. Joss is busy with other projects now, and DB has come out loud and clear, saying he isn't interested.

You'll notice Ancier didn't mention spin-off projects. Those could actually be done. If he really wanted to do something with Joss, that's what he would be talking about.

TheChosenOne: Hon,you can't post pics or urls because you don't have 15 posts yet😛.
Next time you post info, post the source of the info and search forums to make sure that info hasn't been posted already😀.Thanks:: tu ::
