Angel, Twilight, And The Shanshu

Something just occurred to me about Season 8, IDW's "After The Fall" arc, and Twilight's plot. What if Twilight either were or were affiliated with W&H, and its plans actually were THE apocalypse that concerns Angel and the Shanshu prophecy? Twilight's reward to Angel was to be the chance to play Adam to Buffy's Eve in a whole new universe, the implication of which would have to include some degree of actual life, children, and that "happily ever after" that we all want Buffy to someday have with somebody, whether it be Angel, Spike, or some otherwise unknown hero (or heroine, if you're a Fuffy or Billow shipper) hat would certainly seem to comply with the conditions of the Shanshu, and if that really were the case, Angel's act of betraying Buffy at the end could be interpreted as his breaking that bargain, thereby nullifying, or at least postponing, the prophecy as it applies to him. Combine that with Buffy's destroying magic in her universe, rendering the Senior Partners, Twilight, and almost certainly the Powers That Be powerless there.

Then, skip to Season 9 and Willow's current mission (call it obsession) with restoring magic to the world, which would actually restore the Senior Partners' power in this universe, allowing them to renew their plans for apocalypse. That would mean that, once more Angel has been duped into helping them with their plans.

Does any of that make any sense to anyone else, or is it just the after affects of anesthesia from yesterday's biopsy procedure?
 
I think, this thread should really be moved to the S8 subforum - too many spoilers for the unwary, and a lot of folks on this board purposefully ignoring the comics - which is their right, IMHO.
 
No offence, but trying to make sense out of season 8 and 9 is a waste of time and brain power. I understand why you want it to make sense, been there, done that but really, it's futile. I tried analysing it, all that tarot crap, symbols, deities, spells, the time travel nonsense, I even got as far as drawing parallels between Sunnydale and ancient Delphi of the oracle fame. Yeah, I did that.

Conclusion - it just doesn't make sense.

Moreover, it's been over a year since the end of season 8 and season 9 has been here for a while and I haven't seen a single fan work that makes sense out of it or even tries to "fix" it. Not a single one. Fan fiction writers are the most source material-loving, hard-core fans out there and they don't care. In Buffy fandom, one of the most creative ever.

The situation really is that bad.

Be careful with such comparisons. Twilight, the winged-lion thing is supposedly Buffy's and Angel's child so they already have an offspring but more importantly, Eve was not raped and definitely not by Adam. He might have been a so so parent but he wasn't a rapist. If someone's interested I will list all the reasons why comparing Buffy and Angel to Adam and Eve is all sorts of wrong.

Uh, I don't want that.

I want her to love and respect herself first and foremost, focus on being a stronger Slayer and finally be able to protect the ones close to her ( let's face it - she's lost Jenny, Giles, Anya, even Spike and others because she wasn't strong enough ) otherwise her future relationships, romantic or not, will end with another tragedy. I want her to find peace and tranquility in solitude. I want her to have full control over her own life. I want her to learn to love with her heart and her mind.

Buffy can never be truly happy again because she already was in heaven, no lover and no relationship can fix that. Happy ending? Remain sane, choose how you die and don't get resurrected again.

That's the happy ending Buffy deserves.
