This isn't about a season or an episode this is question about "Angel" in general, plus I don't know where to put this.

Anyways, how did you guys feel when Team Angel started using guns to kill & fight monsters with in season 4 & 5?

Well, the "team" never actually carried guns. Wes carried one and sometimes two handguns, Colt 1911 .45's or one of their clones, I believe, and occasionally a Remington pump shotgun. To the best of my knowledge, he only started carrying them, and his folding sleeve blade, after he split with Angel over Connor's abduction. Other than that, the only use of gun against demons on the show was when Gunn's old gang used them in one episode.

As for myself, I have no problem whatsoever with the use of guns whenever they might be effective. That doesn't mean that I wanted the show to turn into the Buffyverse version of "Blade" or "Underworld", but the use of more modern weapons in the Buffyverse would have made perfect sense. In fact, I've always wondered why, other than possibly the usual liberal anti-gun views of the Hollywood community in general (sorry, folks, just the conservative, Southern gun owner's attitude in me rearing its head up here) neither show ever modernized their armament, especially the assorted non-super powered members. It would have only made sense, especially in view of how well the rocket launcher worked in Season 2 of Buffy, to have, occasionally resorted to something besides the museum pieces used on the two shows. That's one thing that made the Hunters on "Supernatural" much more logical than the Slayers and assorted demon fighters on "Buffy" and "Angel."

To say the truth I didn't watch them till now but I think I will like it. Because I always wished there could be more guns in BTVS too! I just hope that there will not be just a so called wild-west-shooter-scene all the time! But a gun in the one or other episode would be great!

Simone and her group of evil Slayers use guns, so it would make perfect sense for Buffy's troops to use them, too just to remain on equal footing.

Well I agree with you white avenger, but you have to realize that this is also a contra argument! Everyone knows how difficult it is to stop a slayer. Do you think you can stop a slayer with a gun? Would they become indestructible? Just some thoughts from my side.

You could kill a Slayer by shooting them so it wouldn't really be any much of a benefit to the Slayer to have the gun as such. Going back to BtVS Ep Angel, Darla tried to kill Buffy by shooting her, and Buffy was pretty badly wounded when she got shot in Seeing Red, so i wouldn't say a Slayer would be indestructible if she had a gun.

Plus Vampires can't be killed by guns, unless ofcorse it was probably silver bullets. I think it probably could have been better if they had had weapons like Van Helsing and his Stake gun, that would have added a bit more.

I don't think that silver bullets worked on anything but werewolves in the Buffyverse, but incendiary ammunition actually exists in small arms calibers, and should be quite effective on vampires and most other demons. Riley used an incendiary grenade to good effect on a vampire den at least once in, I think, "Fool For Love," while Buffy was recuperating from being stabbed by her own stake. Also, the Initiative almost certainly had modern weapons developed specifically for the purpose of fighting and destroying "H S T's."

In my opinion, I see nothing wrong with a human character carrying a gun to protect themself with. I wouldn't have opposed if Xander had carried one on BtVS, either... Humans are generally less strong than their half vampire/half demon friends so why not let them have a weapon that is easy to use and gets the job done quickly?

Seriously? Try to imagine Xander shooting a gun. Also, it would have been so lame if every time a demon showed up, Xander pulled out his Colt .45 and shot him in the head. So much for a fight. The guns worked on Angel, but they wouldn't have on Buffy imo.

I think that the use of guns on Angel kind of ties in with its theme that there are only shades of grey and no black and white like you could say there was on Buffy (to an extent). They were in the adult world and so people like Wesley had to act accordingly- I think using a gun is part of that.

It would have been odd for there to be guns regularly on Buffy.
