In a throw down fight to the finish, assuming that the two characters could be separated, who would win? I know, we had a brief scrap in Season 4 of "Angel," but there has never been a real fight to the finish, like there finally was between Spike and Angel in "Destiny." Assuming that such a thing could take place, would Angel actually be able to beat his "evil twin brother," or would Angelus devise some way to stack the deck in his favor?

This is assuming, of course, that Angel and Angelus are actually twi separate and independent entities, so, "everything Angelus knows, Angel knows," wouldn't be a valid argument, one way or the other.

I personally think Angel. Angelus talks too much in a fight. In becoming pt 2 if he had stabbed Buffy immediately he would have won - but he had to taunt her first. I think that would be his downfall.

Depends on the timeline; if it were during his run on Buffy 1-3 then Angel would lose to Angelus- not enough self-belief.
But on his own show- that point on his journey- that it would be Angel no problem. Better fighting technique and doesn't talk as much. Plus he knows what he's fighting for, so he fights harder.

If Angel wins does he become human? I believe Angel would win, if humanity were the prize. He would fight to the absolute death for that. He'd use every trick and spell he could to defeat Angelus.

Angel. Angelus would be too cocky and slip up

Angelus seems to have lived by the same advice as D'Hoffryn gave - never go for the kill when you can go for the pain. He tortures Giles and kills Jenny to inflict pain on Buffy and her cohorts. If he wanted to kill, he would have killed Willow rather than her goldfish. There are a number of times when he could have acted the way we would expect from a vampire - quick death and no hesitation.

In this situation, Angel would know what has to be done and could dispatch Angelus without any concept of leaving him in pain.

Would Angel's memories of being Angelus be removed? Because if he knew what he had been like, he could definitely know what his alter would do, and plan around it. It's Angelus, wth no memories of Angel who would lose the tactical advantage.

If Buffy is around Angelus wins. Otherwise it's a draw. The winner is the most luckiest. 🙂

Angelus would be more ruthless. He'd win by hitting Angel where it hurts, so someone close to him. I mean, I don't know when this fight of fights takes place, but the person could be Buffy, it could be Cordelia, it could be Connor.... once Angelus has them, Angel would rather give up than let Angelus hurt or torture them. Angel's main weakness is his love for others, same as Buffy's.

So, Angelus wins.

Sidenote: Did anybody else notice that Angelus is more attractive than Angel? Season 2 Buffy in particular??

Deadly attractive. I like him best like in the show. Occasional pop-ups. Otherwise, his manners would have gotten old and he would have lost his ability to terrify me.

Angel's main weakness is his love for others, same as Buffy's.

While Angelus' main weakness is his ego and fear to get resouled again. I think it would depend on who gets a hold of Willow first. If Angel assures her safety, he holds the cards. If Angelus kills her, it's the other way around.

It's always seemed to me that Angel and Angelus are two totally different people, not just the same person, with or without a soul/conscience/sense of moral values. Angel is more direct and confrontational when it comes to facing a problem or an opponent. He's a man of action.

Angelus, on the other hand, is a schemer, the kind of person who would set a trap for his enemy and lure him into a situation that would be to his (Angelus') advantage. He's not a fighter, he's a master tactician, and might be expected to trick someone else into doing most of the fighting for him, the way that he used Faith to distract the Beast so that he could move in unexpectedly and strike the killing blow. That's what would make him the most dangerous, and what Angel would find the hardest to overcome. Angelus is a backstabber.

If Angel wins does he become human? I believe Angel would win, if humanity were the prize. He would fight to the absolute death for that. He'd use every trick and spell he could to defeat Angelus.

This is the point for me. Angel or at least the Angel he becomes post-Buffy is more resourceful and has less of an ego (its still pretty big though😉) so I think that would tip the scales in his favour.

It depends on what they are fighting for. Angel has emotional weakness and therefore more to lose and Angelus can use that to his advantage. Although Angelus is sadistic and goes for the hurt rather than the kill, I think if he could rid himself on Angel, considering Angelus is more ruthless then I'd say Angelus.

Also, is this limited to one on one? If not, then Angel, because to paraphrase what Angel said in Carpe Noctem: Angel has what Angelus doesn't, friends, often carrying heavy things.
