Angel vs. Buffy's First-Five Seasons

I didn't wanna do Buffy Season 1-7 vs. Angel Season 1-5, that would be unfair imo.

Anyways it's simple here's what you do, you bold each season that you prefer and which is your favorite.

Here's mine as an example:
Buffy Season 1 vs. Angel Season 1
Buffy Season 2 vs. Angel Season 2
Buffy Season 3 vs. Angel Season 3
Buffy Season 4 vs. Angel Season 4
Buffy Season 5 vs. Angel Season 5
 
Buffy Season 1 vs. Angel Season 1
Buffy Season 2 vs. Angel Season 2
Buffy Season 3 vs. Angel Season 3
Buffy Season 4 vs. Angel Season 4
Buffy Season 5 vs. Angel Season 5

Buffy Season 3- Angel Season 3
Buffy Season 4- Angel Season 4

I want to point out as well that I prefer all of the Angel seasons to every Buffy season from S4 onwards. And, even though I didn't pick it, I love BTVS S1.

My answer exactly. I love Angel, but as a show I felt it was weaker than Buffy.

Angel Season 1 gets a thumbs up for "I Will Remember You" though 🙁

S5 of both Buffy and Angel are my favorites, it's too hard to choose between them. If I had to though, I'd probably go for Buffy S5. But it's a very slim lead.

Oh and I must say... I love Angel S4. Cordy/Connnor was kind of icky but no where near bad enough to take away the epicness of the season.

Buffy S1 didn't win for me because there simply wasn't enough of it.

Nothing wrong with that at all. I think the reason is that there always seem to be a lot of comments in these types of questions which says things along the lines of "Buffy is better because it's Buffy". That's not a reason, and really, it's just close-minded. It gets annoying after a while, to me at least, when I see people saying they don't like Angel just because it's not Buffy. That doesn't make any sense.

I agree. I like Angel but season 1 after Doyle wasn't as good and it really took me some time to get hooked. Sometimes I wasn't so interested in the episodes and didn't feel like keep watching it.
With Buffy, nobody could stop me...I'd watch and watch. Plus, in my humble opinion Buffy had better scripts and episodes and it was just on another level.

I said I was sorry in my post cause generally speaking (and it didn't happen here), when you so blatantly prefer Buffy over Angel, people will rise eyebrows...like maybe, as [MENTION=11975]Always Bangel[/MENTION] said, they think your reasons are superficial.

Agreed.

I don't like Angel as much as Buffy because I didn't enjoy the characters nearly as much as I did with Buffy. Gunn and Fred didn't interest me as much as Anya and Dawn

The thing is, I love BtVs, and I...really like Angel. I'm not one of those, "I love Buffy simply because it's the original, without Buffy, there would be no Angel" people, because that alone doesn't mean anything. Spin-offs can actually surpass the original sometimes. (Xena, anyone? Nobody even remembers Hercules. 😛) But in this case, Buffy was just the better, more consistent show to me. Even though Angel Season 5 hit all the high marks. 😀
 
To be honest personally I can't compare them. For me they were both on completely different levels and depths of character. For example, you really cannot compare Cordy in BTVS to Cordy in AtS. Just my opinion, so I can't compare them 🙁
