Angel

Alright, so as I stated in one of my previous topics, I began watching the series again from the beginning. So, I'm not 100%, but quite sure that the episode I'm referring to is called "Angel". Basically I was thinking about the scene where "The Three" are chasing Buffy and Angel, and they run inside Buffy's house, when Angel was never invited, and somehow the "forcefield" (Or whatever you wish to call it) never stopped Angel from going in.
Also One of the vampires from "The Three" was able to get his hand inside the door as Buffy closed it on him, kind of showing that he was "in" as well.
They even said it right away, vampires can't come in unless invited.
What are your theories to this? I found it odd.

When they are running into the house, you can hear Buffy say something like "Come in" to Angel. So technically he was invited. Although, The Three being able to stick their arms in is something that was never explained.

Yeah, Buffy tells Angel to come in while they're running, but I also noticed that they stuck there hands in. Must have just been an error, since they talk about it right away (vamps not being able to come in w/o being invited).

I don't remember her saying that, but who knows, I wasn't 100% attentive to every single detail occurring at the time. The thought just struck me, especially after The Three getting his hand in the door. It sort of took attention away from that, and then the thought hit me. Perhaps soon I'll re-watch the scene and see what happens.

I think The Three's arm getting through the door a bit was just for drama and suspense and other such things, but Buffy yells 'Hurry! Get in! Come on!' to Angel once she gets in the house so he was invited. After all in the series Angel Cordelia tells him, 'You're welcome over anytime' and that meant he could come into her house now. So if that can count as an invitation I think so can 'Get in!' haha

In that episode Buffy says ''Get in! C'mon!'' Now its just a theory but maybe the invite works for vampires that are close enough to hear the invitation. Buffy shouts the comment to Angel but with the Three being close enough maybe they have a loop whole that allows that invitation to be extend to them because they heard it. And that's why they weren't knocked back by the forcefield and one of them was allowed to get their hand through the door.

I think we have to remember that this was still the 1st season and there were kinks to be worked out. Not everything was exactly perfect. There were bound to be a few mistakes.

I was going to say this. She yells "Come in!" but not "Come in, Angel!" (Was she even looking at Angel? Because I'm thinking of the episode with Harmony's gang, S5, when Dawn invites Harmony in, but the other vamps can't enter....she was looking at Harmony then, so maybe that's why...) Anyway, maybe as far as the invite rule, all the vampires in the vicinity were invited. They were killed that same episode, so we don't know if they could actually get into the Slayer's house or if it was just a kink the writers hadn't worked out yet. (If they were able to get in, the Master's pretty stupid for killing them. He had an all-access pass to the Slayer's house. Silly Master.)

(Something that's always bothered me was in "Halloween" of S2, a vampire is able to sneak into Buffy's kitchen without being invited. But that's another topic, I suppose.)

I noticed this too the first time I watched the episode. My thinking at the time was that it was a HUGE inconsitancy. Then the next time I saw the ep I could hear it clearer and distincly heard her say, "Get in" I think it was a very cool detail in that it establishes that they are going to take their own mythology seriously.

BUT, I still think this is one of the most flawed episodes of all time. Angel stays the night. So you would figure that he would get up in the morning and shove off. (Of course being impossible since he's a vampire and the sun would be shining)

Buffy goes to school, returns that afternoon / evening, brings him something to eat cause he's still in her room, thinks he read her diary, they kiss and he shows his true vamp colors. So why did she think he needed to stay in her room all day? It just doesn't make any sense to me at all. That previous morning she didn't know he was a Vampire.

I still love that episode but my capasity for suspension of belief was stratched to the limit on that one.

I guess the only explanation for that is because of her concern for his well-being...as far as she knew he was just a regular guy who took up demon fighting as a pastime, so perhaps she'd worry about his being attacked if he left...even though the Three wouldn't have been able to attack him in the daylight...beats me...perhaps Buffy just wanted to stir controversy by telling everyone she had a hot dude stashed away in her room at home. :lol:
