I'm wondering if I agreed with it or not. . .

I hated the fact that he left Buffy. I really, really did.

But then I loved "Angel" and the way his character was taken to new levels.

I think his character was explored more on his own show, but I would've liked to know what would've happened to B/A, him, and Cordy in Sunnydale over time. . .

- Thoughts?

Re:

Woah! you're pretty brave there chica! You really opened up a can of worms! J/K, but seriously- I was heartbroken when Angel left as well. It angered and frustrated me. But I think it was for the best. I think Cordy was good for Angel, she made him smile more than I ever saw with Buffy. ( Yes, Cordelia you have taught me well!) And I think Buffy lived hard and played well. She did okay. Some don't think Spike was an alluring choice of choices. But I kinda disagree. I think if everyone would've stayed imobile in SunnyD, theres a chance they all ( or some of them) could have died. Or the possibility of Angelus coming to play again ( even though that never REALLY bothered me! mmmmmm, leather!) was high. Sometimes I wondered what it would've been like for Angel to hang out and MAYBE, just MAYBE they could find a way to lift the curse without causing him to lose his soul. But as unlikely as that was I didn't ponder that long. I dunno, I GUESS I got over it.... :thought:

buffy and angel promised their futures to each other only in the end of btvs and that's what matters. i was upset when he left her, sure, but in the long run i did understand it was for the better. they bot needed to grow as individuals. but since then there hasn't been a single year when the still standing strength of their love wasn't proven at least once as was the fact theystill belonged with each other in the end. they were the relationship that started the slayerverse and the only relationship that lasted all through it and ended with a solid promise for a joint future. that's as much as joss would be ever willing to give, and i personally, as a die-hard b/a-er, am very happy with the arrangement 🙂

I don't know if Joss had decided to do the whole Angel spin off thing before he got rid of Angel's character, but either way I think that the whole Angel leaving for L.A thing was a good idea. Buffy had to accept that there was no way a relationship with a vampire was going to work. He wouldn't have aged when she would have, and they couldn't even make love. I mean don't get me wrong, I loved Buffy and Angel as a couple, but it wasn't going to work out, and Angel knew it. Plus......We got the best spin off ever! It's all good. 😉

The only thing that pissed me off was that he came to the prom and danced with Buffy - I thought that was kinda rude and probably instilled some hope in the Slayer that he might actually decide to stay.

If I had been friends with them both, I would have yelled at him. Now, he is just a character in a TV-series (on of the best there is, but still) so I will let him get away with it. This time. 😉

He came because he knew how much dancing with her honey at prom and doing things a normal girl would do meant to her. That's even why he left.
I really hated that he left too but I also thought it was a really good episode and story. They are star-crossed lovers. The thing of great literature. It added to the intensity of their relationship. They were so much in love but were selfless enough to stay apart.

The spinoff became a possibility in I Only Have Eyes For You. By the time season 3 started David said he knew he was getting a spinoff when the season ended.

well Joss said if the Angel spin-off didnt go well(as in got cancelled) he wouldve brought Angel and Cordy back to sunnydale. I just didnt like how they let Cordy leave the show, she looked like she was staying at the end of Graduation, than come Freshmen she is nowhere to be seen or mentioned about, and they never talked about her leaving.

I know that, but a more descriptive look into Cordelia leaving, she just dissapeared from Buffy during the summer and nothing was really mentioned of her leaving.

Yeah that was annoying.. anywho on topic, i hated joyce when angel left because i blamed her, honestly i wanted terrible things to happen to her but i got over it and started liking her, sort of again when angel got his own tv program!!!

Bittersweet. That's the only way to describe it. It was very sad that Angel had to leave, and leave Buffy to her own devices. Yet, without him leaving, we would not have had Angel the Series, and then where would we have been? There were good points and bad points to him leaving.

When Angel left I knew he had his own show so I wasn't too bent up about it. You kind of miss him after a while! But when he comes back he's really great.
