Nothing to do with the wife's favourite vampire but six hours of superb grown-up television. Based on a stage play and directed by Mike Nichol and starring Al Pacino, Meryl Streep and Emma Thompson, it's an HBO production that has just been aired in the UK. We watched it over the last week and I loved it...

It seemed to have so many layers and metaphors (I don't even pretend to get them all) in its story of people affected by AIDS in the 80's. Genuinely moving TV drama, I thought it was a cross between Sandman (the comic), Wizard of Oz (the movie) and Christmas Carol (the story) and I enjoyed every second of it. The cast were brilliant and the filming excellent - a very definite Pointy double thumbs-up! :: tu :: :: tu ::

I've seen this movie and I'm not to grown up, lol. Let's see, I remember this hospital scene with an angel and she's taking this guy away and the lady is afraid of the angel with the black on (that could have been a different movie). Then at the very end the main characters each say something in a park in front of an angel statue. Are we talking about the same movie?

Yes Parker, it's the same film. What did you think? I personally enjoy seeing TV/movie drama that makes me think occasionally. Not that I have anything against the "turn your brain off" action-adventure, rom-coms etc. - everything has a place in the Pointyverse (even total garbage - you gotta have something to look down on 🙂)

I think I missed parts of the movie; I saw from when that guy first entered the hospital. I think the movie was really good, that's why I watched it. Usually I turn off something that isn't about fighting vampires or the troublesome days of high schoolers, but for some reason the movie caught my eye and I watched it. I think the speech they all made at the end in front of the statue was really inspiring, that's the part I remember the most.

I absolutely loved the movie! Someday I want to see it performed on stage, as it was written for, but I thought that the acting was superb! Meryl Streep just blows me away!
