Angel's Mansion

If memory serves me correctly, in Season 2, Angelus and Harmony killed the original residents of the mansion and set it up as their base of operations. Isn't it sort of morbid for Angel to continue to reside there for all of Season 3? If for no other reason, it was the place where Angelus tortured Giles, plotted his plan to destroy the world as we knew it, and where Buffy sent him to hell with 3 feet of steel through his chest.

I would think that he would want to stay as far away from there as possible.

Well, I don't recall Harmony being a part of it at all...

It's absolutely morbid, and that's by design. I think the fact that Angel remains to dwell there for the bulk of S3 because of the pain and guilt he's feeling. I always felt that it was his own way of penance, so that he'd be forced to confront what the demon locked inside of him did every single day (which Angel feels guilt over, even if he shouldn't have to). It's not a bright or positive thing at all. It's meant to show that he's being consumed by what Angelus did, and that all sort of climaxes in "Amends".

This was my thinking, too. I don't remember anything about them saying that they killed the previous inhabitants. Unless I've just never noticed it before. :/

I'd go with it being abandoned as well, and he didn't have much in going back there, that is where Buffy took him when he came back from hell, and I won't mention anything about Buffy chaining Angel to the wall. None of that bondage talk here, this is a family friendly place.

Yeah they say: "The abandoned mansion on Crawford street" - they didn't kill anyone for it.

Even if they had, I dont think it'd be that weird, it's like saying, he should have left Sunnydale cuz thats the town where he killed people, Buffy should have sold the house as her mom died in their living room, Willow shouldn't have come back to Sunnydale cuz thats were she killed Warren or Spike shouldn't have stayed in Buffy house since thats where he tried to rape her. There's too much of that for something so small to be morbid.

Good point. I never thought of that before. Maybe for the same reason Spike stays in his crypt, even after Buffy destroys it in As You Were: convenience. I can't imagine there is a large selection of affordable housing suitable for a vampire in Sunnydale.

Kind of reminds me of how Spike kept wearing the jacket he stole from Nikki Wood when he killed her, even after he got a soul. Sure, Angel did some awful things while in that mansion, but it's still a part of who he is, I guess? Maybe?

I agree with [MENTION=5973]Black Eye Guy[/MENTION] that just about every inch of that town was the site of some sort of atrocious occurrence that affected and/or was caused by every character at some point. So while I think it's a totally valid point that a person(pire) should/could have the instinct to relocate after one such occurrence, I think that if Angel were to do so then the other characters would have to wonder why they should stay in their dwellings and the show would have to take place in another state.

Maybe it'd be nice if once in a while characters could make some statement about how they'd really like to get away from the site of "x" but don't have the money/time etc. I dunno. Maybe constantly fighting for their lives was too time consuming.
