Angel's perfect happiness?

Very ill and at work but I'll try and give this a shot.

Well that isn't entirely true. The actual moment Angel achieves perfect happiness in that dream he gasps the word "Buffy". That was done for a reason. She is still (even in his dream state) very much tied to his "perfect happiness".

I still stand by the theory that Buffy is part of the memory, but this doesn't mean that she couldn't still trigger it.

Whether that emotion could be reproduced is up for question. I mean, has anyone here ever been so blissfully happy that it was perfection? I can't say that I have. Achieving that type of contentment once would be an amazing feat. Multiple times seems almost impossible to me.

Almost but not quite. In Awakening, he managed to acheive it.

Just realised Star Slayer beat me to it. It still makes the most sense doesn't it.

A) As SS says, he says Buffy after the moment of Perfect Happiness

B) it would seem unlikely that thinking of Buffy but being with her would make him happy. He was, as he says, exactly where he wanted to be, with Cordy.

Well, I don't think it was all about the sex itself.. it was more about loving her and having a chance to share the biggest thing there is with her. I don't think it was about pleasure.. well, pleasure took a part. But he had all this mixed feelings, good feelings that made him completly happy.

How much do you think Angel knew about this aspect of the Curse, the "perfect moment of happiness"? He had to know something about it, right? But, he didn't connect it to sex with Buffy? Or did he, as Giles said later in Amends, just become complacent about his own existence? IOW, he didn't care, again, like he said in Amends, he just wanted to lose himself in her.

He had no idea about the curse. The only people that did know about it were the Kalderash gypsies that cursed him.

I'm trying to remember if they mentioned it to him after they cursed him. Guess not. That makes it even more infuriating that Jenny didn't tell the gang about it beforehand.

They don't. A man comes up to him when he is kneeling on the ground and Angel says he doesn't remember what happened or where he is and then the man tells him soon he will remember everything he did and all the pain he caused. He never mentions the clause on the curse.

Yeah, Jenny really messed up with that. I suppose she couldn't know exactly what would happen but that is little consolation. Especially for her.

I don't think he knew anything about the cure. If he did, I don't think he would take that risk.

Jenny didn't know about the curse either. She looks surprised when her Uncle is explaining to her that a moment of perfect happiness would cause Angel to lose his soul.

You are completely right. Not only that but he doesn't just say Buffy. He's says in a terrified and panic voice "Buffy, NO". It's the no that follows the Buffy that leads me to belive he is in fact remembering the first time.

Agreed. Good point about the "no." That ties it together even more.
