Angel's The Only True Immortal **Possible Spoilers**

Angel can't die. I've been saying it since the Season 1 finale. Now it's pretty much been confirmed.

Angel has to fulfill his role in the apocalypse and Shanshu before he gets his final goodbye. Whether the First, Wolfram & Hart, the Powers that Be or whomever, someone will resurrect him if he dies.

I just think it's pretty cool that he now realizes that.

Buffy impales him and sends him to Hell -the First, Wolfram & Hart or the Powers that Be resurrected him.

Xander stakes him - Giles fixes the universe resurrecting him.

Illyria dusts him - Illyria's time slip resurrects him.

Gunn kills him TWICE - Wolfram & Hart resurrect him TWICE.

Wait, so what? Angel is immortal. Well, that's a given, right? Aren't all vamps "immortal"? Buffy can't really seem to stay dead either.

I was actually trying to think of one when I posted that but I was out of look. He is technically immortal and un-stay-dead-able...take the immortal out of that and you have Buffy lol

"Ageless" or "unaging" might be more accurate, but they just don't have the same flair as immortal.

Without the resurrect thingy, a former mate of mine called that "biologically immortal" - though, in the case of vampires, "necrologically immortal" would be more precise. So, Angel is a necrologically immortal being who can die, but will get better (even if he might not really want to).

Point of this post? I just like to hear myself talk, especially if the words are polysyllabic. I'm obviously an incurable heteronymophile. :lmao:
 
Speaking of aging, has anyone here heard the theory that, because of their accelerated healing powers, Slayers might actually have the potential (no pun intended) of a much slower aging rate than normal humans? Of course, up until now, there would have been no way to know for sure, since no Slayer has ever lived long enough to either prove or disprove it. Now, however, for the first time, there might actually be a chance for Buffy or one of her girls to reach retirement age or older.

Interesting idea...makes sense.
 
Well currently, scientists consider 130 to be the human expiration age. It's believed that even a perfect human specimen could not live longer than around 130 years. Maybe 130 for Slayers would be like 110 for everyone else.
 
I think the only reason Angel is immortal is because he has his own show.

PTB, if they are as outside of time as they would make us like to think (Shanushu is afterall a future prophecy) then they will see that Spike is perfectly capable of fulfilling this role. If spike dies, its perfectly reasonable for another vampire to become ensouled an fulfill the prophecy. Its nice to think that our hero Angel is the most important guy in the world but in reality, he can EASILY be replaced.

Angel is no more invincible as any other character of the show. All Angel needs to die is for the writers decide that Angel the show/comic is over and boom... Angel flat on his back.... um... blowing in the wind.

I always did like the idea that Slayers would pull a Dúnadan and live much longer than a regular human if left to age naturally. There seems to be no real expiration date on their powers - Buffy retained hers after dying. Four times. I think it would keep them in their prime for as long as possible, then they would grow old slowly.
