Angel's Town

I know that the REAL reason that Buffy and Angel's big reunion after her resurrection was because the two shows were no longer on the same network, but, in the storyline wouldn't their meeting "somewhere halfway between" Sunnydale and LA have something to do with his telling her to stay out of his town the last time she visited him there?

that's a good point. im not sure if ive ever thought about it that way. they met halfway because angel told buffy to stay out of his town. and they said they don't live in each other's worlds anymore, which means angel couldn't have just gone to sunnydale. i guess if you look at it plotline-wise or continuity-wise or whatever, that could probably be the reason. but yeah, the real reason they met up "somewhere halfway between" was because of the shows being on different competing stations. which is why there weren't any crossovers between the two during the remainder of their runs--well, except end of days & chosen (were there others? i dont recall). simply because neither was going to give their competitor something (like a special crossover episode) that might have boosted their ratings higher than the others.

angel didn't have any problem going to Sunnydale when Joyce died. I don't see why he would have a problem coming there to see Buffy alive. I think this was soloey based on the fact of the differing networks.

I always took it as they met somewhere in between because they had to see each other right away. It would've taken too long for Buffy to travel to LA and Angel to travel to Sunnydale. If they both left and met in a between place, it would take less time.

No I don't think it had anything to do staying out of Angels town,As SB said I think it was about getting there ASAP.

But Buffy also says something like, "Can't do it here, or there we'll meet in the middle, there's a place"

It made it sound like they had a place arranged, like an actual meeting, some place special.

I always took it as they met somewhere in between because they had to see each other right away. It would've taken too long for Buffy to travel to LA and Angel to travel to Sunnydale. If they both left and met in a between place, it would take less time.

...and that brings up another question. Just how far apart were Sunnydale and LA? At Joyce's funeral, Angel seemed to be there almost as soon as the sun went down. Granted, he could've gotten there during the daylight hours by either having someone else drive an enclosed vehicle, or he could've gotten there so near to dawn the previous day that traveling to Buffy's house would have been impracticle if not downright impossible, but in that case, wouldn't he have called to say he was coming? Also, he obviously left before dawn, because he wasn't there the next day, and, if "I'll be here for as long as you need me," means anything, Buffy surely didn't need him for very long (of course, her show was on on Tuesdays and his was on on Wednesdays, so he had to get back in time for his next episode).

I guess I'm trying to read too much into a simple scene, but, as I said once before, those sardine and peanut butter sandwiches late at night...

Why do you think Angel only had a day to get to Sunnydale? Joyce Died and it would have been a few days before they had the Funeral, if he'd found out the day she died he still would have had a good few dyas to get there asap.

Doesn't he say he came as soon as he heard? We don't tknow when that was?

What i kinda got from this is that maybe it was quicker for them to meet halfway and if they needed to see each other then half way would be fastest for both. That or maybe something was going on where half way would be safer

You may very well be right. Possibly Angel did call, or someone from Sunnydale called him, and Buffy knew he was coming.

I remember right away, Giles asks Buffy what she knows about Sunnydale. Doesn't she say that it's like 2 hours from a Neiman Marcus? (Or some amount of time) I always took that as the Neiman Marcus was in LA and that would give an example of how far apart they were.

But perhaps I'm wrong. It is a good question though, how exactly far apart are they?

Well, if we take that Sunnydale is Santa Barbara then we can assume its the same distance between that and LA which is a couple of hundred Kilometers.
That would fall in with the '2 hours from...' thing.

On the subject and the Joyce one, I actually read somewhere a very interesting suggestion that Angel in the season 5 outing was actually a dream, a figment from Buffy's imagination to help her through the hardest night of her life.
