Just wondering, out of curiosity mainly... does anyone have a rough idea of the body count than Angel/us piled up over his years?

I've been doing some tallying and it's pretty frickin' high from what i can guess, just curious as to if there's an 'official bodycount' or how other people's estimates rack up against mine. It's canon that he was turned in 1753 and reensouled in 1898... so if i take that time period first.

So he was a soulless killing machine for around 145 years, now we know his first victims were his family... so that's 3 (mother, father and sister), and again it's canon that in 1764 Angelus slaughtered Holtz' family, so that's another three (Wife, daughter and son)... but now we have to get a bit creative.

It's never actually been said how often the Buffyverse Vampires need to feed... but, being charitable towards the souless killing machine, say he only killed one human per day... that's a round medium number between Angelus' slaughtering families when he felt like it, and days when he didn't feed for any particular reason.

So, 1 human per day killed = 365 humans dead per year...

So, that means that just over his first term as Angelus, 145 years killing only one person a day, he would have slaughtered approximately 53,000 people... give or take...

Now, moving on to his second term as Angelus... soul-boinked by Buffy on her 17th birthday (19 Jan according to her tomb stone)... he then was reensouled on May 19th (Aprox anyway)... so standard extrapolation gives him another 59 added to the body count.

So currently it's up to 53,059 people dead directly by Angelus' hands alone, and that's just on the 'one per day for food' method... he could easily be slaughtering 5 to 10 people a day most days, I mean, killing and torturing were Angelus' art form... so in all theory, he could well be on his way to 100,000 deaths on his hands, perhaps more...

Has anyone else come up either matching or arguing data?

what's too many?

1 a day?

I thought that was a nice average between slaughtering entire villages (In a flashback Darla stated that before they met The Master, Angelus and Darla used to slaughter entire villages and towns) and days when he didn't feed for any particular reason...

I haven't read the rest of the thread, but:

Remember, he probably liked a good slaughter. Visiting a monastery, killing everyone there within a hour, going away, making a bomb (doesn't seem his style, since he doesn't seem to like too much attention, but it's worth considering), killing hundreds of people per day might be his thing.

And we also don't know how often vampires need to feed. Maybe two per week? One? Three? And Angelus enjoyed torturing. Maybe he just killed one person per week for months at a time, in case he was focused on one victim at a time.

-EDIT

I see the big slaughters were taken into consideration.

Interesting thread...I've never actually thought about Angel/us' body count. I think that your math looks pretty fair. I would guess that 53,059 is at the low end of the possible total body count. As you said killing and torturing were Angelus' art form and from what we have been told he is the best at it. Im sure he killed more than one person a day when running around with the fang gang; the four of them certainly fancied themselves the unstoppable killing machines and enjoyed to cause mayhem and despair.

My guess is that vampires only have to feed every couple days to survive. There were times when Sunnydale went without vampire sighting for a few days. We also don't see Angel, Spike, Dru or any other vampires eating frequently. But who knows, it was never actually made clear right?

I don't recall anyone ever mentioning the number of people they had killed as a vampire; just that they have implied time and time again that they have killed many.

Well lets say they only eat once a week since the show was weekly plus I'm sure they didn't kill one a day cause with numerous vampires I would imagine the human population would be in danger of extinction with all the vamps killing a person a day plus sickness, etc....So i'm guessing they only eat once in awhile cause we know they could last really long without food since Angel did when he was under water.

So once a week...what is there 52 weeks in a year? so 145 yrs you said i think...thats 7540 deaths...now if you include the mass murders...lets triple it worst case scenario..22,620

There's no actual way we would ever find out but I would like to think its less than what your numbers come up with cause it seems so illogical for the human race...but who knows?

Let's remember the vampire biting houses that Riley and others went to. Probably kept the population up in Sunnydale, when vamps could go there to feed.

I think Vampires do be hungry everyday seen as Angel drank pigs blood daily, but I don't think Vampires feed off different people everyday. In Buffy (and sometimes Angel) when they crashed a nest of Vampires they found dead bodies laying around, so I think a Vampire would feed off a single Human for two to three days before needing to get another meal x3.

With Angelus body count though I think these numbers would be close to how many he killed, cause unlike other Vampires who just take a single person off the streets to eat, Angelus liked to kill a mass amount of people from time to time. Not for food, but for the fun of it, so even if he didn't feed everyday he sure made up for it by wiping out villages and families whenever he got the chance.

Yes, the numbers seem very high, but he is feared by other Vampires and normally stronger types of demons for a reason.
