I posted a whole thing elsewhere, might as well copy what I posted here:

Someone mentioned Grace taking over Angelus body because she had something in common with, that I believe. Its been said in BtVS that vampires can in fact love without a soul (see Spike & Dru). For Grace to takeover Angelus' body, means that the love was definitely there or else she wouldn't be able to.

Drusilla: What was it? A demon?
Angelus: Love!

He was able to feel love. Angelus shows his love in a different way though (see The Prodigal & Passion) but he does feel love.

Buffy and Angelus gently break off their kiss and open their eyes.
Buffy: (softly) Angel.
Suddenly he growls, pushes her away and runs from the room.

He had a chance to snap her neck like a twig right there. He didn't though, instead he ran from the room... running away (from what he felt).

I also agree about thinking he loved her in Passion, when he tenderly brushed her hair aside and watched her sleep. That wasn't an Angelus thing to do... he could've turned her into a Vampire right there, or killed her.

He could've killed Joyce when they were out on the front lawn, he didn't though.

Joyce: She told me she wants you to leave her alone.
Angelus: I-I can't. I can't do that.
Joyce: You're scaring her.
Angelus: You have to help me. (she starts toward the house) Joyce...
(follows her) I need, I need to be with her. Y-you can convince her. You
have to convince her.
Joyce: Look, (Angelus gets in front of her) I'm telling you to leave
her alone.
Angelus: You have to talk to her for me, Joyce. Tell her I need her.

I'm thinking he really meant that too, if he just wanted to taunt Buffy & Joyce he would've gotten straight to the point about them making love in Surprise, instead of going on and on with about how much he needs her.

Xander: Visiting hours are over.
Angelus: Well, I'm pretty much family.
Xander: (trying hard to stay cool) Yeah. Why don't you come back during
the day? Oh, gee, no, I guess you can't.
Angelus: (threateningly) If I decide to walk into Buffy's room, do you
think for one microsecond that you could stop me?

Hmm...why so interested in walking into see Buffy (with flowers none the less)? Seems to me he's letting his feelings for Buffy get the best of him there.

Buffy: Shouldn't you be out destroying the world right now, pulling the sword out of Al Franken or whatever his name is?
Angelus: There's time enough. I wanted to say goodbye first. You are
the one thing in this dimension I will miss.

Just pointing out a few things. More to come soon!

you're so great!....the way you explain thing is just great!

I would like to add something. In the ep Killed By Death they said more stuffs,Xander said that if Angelus wanted to go to BUffy's room nobody could have stoped him... and that's true,..so why didn't he go to kill her?,He could have,Buffy was weak...nobody could have stop him from doing it

I try my best! 😀
Out of many years on the internet (since I was 13) I've learned to make page-long arguments.

He definitely could've killed her in Killed By Death, she was at her weakest point then. Hell, he could've killed her in Passion, IOHEFY, and other episodes. He had an ample chance to do so, yet he never did.

I still think differently. Oh well, at least we know Angel does love her. Though I kinda like Bangelus (because had he been more exposed to her like Spike and had a chip in his head, I'd bet you anything he would've went for a soul too) its still Bangel I want together in the end!

Bangel forever...though Bangelus is interesting too...I think he loved,in a crazy way,but he did.He could have killed her thousands of times and he didn't.He knew she wasn't like Dru,there was no way to drive her crazy. He was obssessed with Dru,that's why he killed her family,friends...he coud have killed Joyce(Passion),Willow(Innocence),Cordelia(BBB),Xander(Killed by Death,BBB),etc.-That would have hurted her very much,so why didn't he?

looks like you changed your mind(Bangelus was also v.convincing)
Bangel is obviously better, but Angelus loved Buffy and that's pretty cute,he never loved anybody and then he fell in love with her,she was his first and only love

AngelsGirl: do you have more of that 'Angelus loved Buffy because' stuff?

Didja want more? I can definitely come up with more... just give me some time, and I could probably come up with a hundred and one reasons why Angelus loved Buffy. 😛

Then here is another: In Doppelgangland Angel implied that vampires share characteristics or whatnot with the human that it once was. It could be said that Angel's love for Buffy carried on to Angelus when he lost his soul.
