Based on the video game of the same name; this one season of television had more story than other shows that lasted a decade. Plus it has the best delivery of a name ever.

The Devil May Cry series they put out wasn't half bad either; I'll leave it at that for now; unless I see any of my other favorites mentioned.
 
I'll be honest - I haven't watched anime in years.

But - I have watched and thoroughly enjoyed the following: Neon Genesis Evangelion, Bastard!!, Cowboy Bebop (epic show), Shinesman (great spoof), Grave of the Fireflies (must see, dramatic film), Revolutionary Girl Utena (made very little sense at times, but interesting), & FLCL (the Pillows wrote an epic soundtrack to this series...and the manga was just as random).
 
I grew up watching Japanese stuff in some form or another, starting with the classic "Gigantor" and "Astroboy" series' and their ilk.

Back in my teens and young adulthood I could go down to the pre Disney-fied Times Square/42nd Street areas and get professional-grade, subtitled bootlegs of any
(previously unreleased in the U.S.) Japanese Anime on VHS, which means I could watch the original uncut versions of everything that would become watered down by American television and movies years later, such as "Dragon Ball Z", for example.

But my taste for Anime tends to gravitate towards the violent stuff. Things like "Battle Royal High School", "Violence Jack", "Midnight Eye", and "Baoh", which I have found a clip of (Caution: not for young children)........

I fell off of watching Anime after a long while because it seems they were making everything too Saturday-morning-cartoony, like that blasted, sickeningly cute "Pokemon" crapola they came up with (no offense to those of you who love "Pokemon" 😛😛).

Did you ever see the live action, Battle Royale film? For the record - amazing. Hyper-violent with a ridiculous plot! Loved it.

Yep, in fact I think I still have that around here somewhere. Pretty crazy flick.
Given my educational background (I've been away from BB for a while, so for those of you who had a huh? moment;I majored in Japanese studies with a minor in Japanese History and Culture), I went through a whole anime craze when I started uni (which is already 10 yrs ago).
Up untill then I had only watched Rurouni Kenshin, whilst knowing it was Japanese anime.
But now that I think of it, even though the anime craze basically went global in the 90's and nillies... there were a lot of Japanese made children's programs on Belgian Television in the 80's as well. I remember watching Maple town and the Swiss Family Robinson etc.
Oh and Sailormoon and DBZ on French Tv!

Anyways Kenshin got me hooked on the genre for a while and I got really into a couple of series, some of them already named above.
I actualy enjoy reading manga more then watching anime, so my collection of manga is pretty huge. But I've enjoyed watching anime adaptions of my most loved series.

I'm a big Yuu Watase Fan (Fushigi Yuugi, Ayashi no Ceres, Alice 19th, Appare Jippangu, Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden, basically her shojo works...)
I also love Angel Sanctuary (the manga, never bothered with the anime) and Fruits Basket
And I love Clamp... my favourite work of theirs so far has te be Clover...or X

I've been meaning to get back into anime for a while, if only to improve my Japanese again... back when I was really into it I loved random stuff like Excel Saga, Jungle Wa itsumo hare nochi guu or even Tsukikage Ran
I've also recently remembered watching and really liking Now and then Here and There (Ima, soko ni iru boku) so I kind of want to watch that one again.

and um... Record of Lodoss War, Earth Girl Arjuna (great music!), Slayers, Noir, Full Metal Panic,...I'm sure there's more... Maybe a trip to Archonia.com is in order 😛
