don't know where the old thread went, so i've started a new one.
since we now have Buffy Summers joining our club, and i've now finished every single book, i thought we should getwith the discussing again.
so, how did you discover Anita's world? who's your favorite character? nad just WHO does Anita belong with? 😀

OMG! You totally stole my idea...lol.

Let's see...I discovered AB, my sophomore year of high school, from someone here on the BB, AngelForever. She recommended the books, and I had just started the first one, when one day we had an assembly at school. It was drug awareness week, and we were supposed to go watch this film in the cafeteria. I sat down next to this girl I knew from working with her at the football concession stand. And we smiled at each other, and started watching the film. Well, about 5 minutes into it, I get bored and start looking around. I look down next to me, at the book that was on the table in front of her. Obsidian Butterfly an Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter novel. Well, I was so excited that I told her that I had just started reading GP. She got even more excited and we talked the entire assembly. She's been my best friend ever since.

I'm totally obsessed with the entire world, and I have to say JC, is my favorite one of AB's guys...for her. I love Jason though...He's my favorite for me! 😀

Heeeeee! Jason's a cutie, alright!
Ahhhh, a discussion thread, yayyyyy! I love Anita Blake!!!

Ok, I discovered Anita recently, probably 6 months ago or so. I was discussing Buffy and Angel with another fan (she's not on this board, she's a fellow Jake Gyllenhaal fan, too, I met her through that) and she recommended the books to me. I'd heard of them before, just hadn't gotten around to picking one up. So, I bought Guilty Pleasures and could NOT put it down. After that, I was off and running.....I couldn't wait to get through one, so I could get to the next one!

Hmmmm, I'm so torn about Anita's many men, ha! I love her and JC (and ASHER, ha! He's so much a part of JC, I can't see them ever separated), I think they're really perfect for eachother. (It would be better if he could look up from his grubbing for more and more power long enough to really LOVE her, tho. I think that's the one thing that keeps her from giving herself to him completely...she recognizes that some small part of him is using her.) I think each of them adds something to her life, something that's unique and special and would be achingly missed if he wasn't there.

I'm interested to see where the thing with Nathaniel is going. He's gaining so much confidence and assertiveness!

I heard that there was a vampire book series that was good, so I checked out Cerulean Sins. It strikes me as a bit unfocused (the two stories in it weren't connected), but I'd check out more. Any recommendations?

Slayerpower, i'd recommened starting at the beginning with Guilty Pleasures, and working your way through all the books. if you jump right in the middle, you're going to get confused, and not no what's going on, and how Anita ended up with so many men in her bed!!
i always say that the last book i read it my favorite, because they really do get better as they go along. Danse Macbre was just amazing.

I loved Bloody Bones. Obsidian Butterfly is probably my favorite in the series.....hmmmmm.....Guilty Pleasures is a good start, too. Blue Moon is also good, but it helps to be familiar with the characters before you read it.

Danse Macbre was just amazing.

Oooo, I completely forgot DM...that's another of my favorites!

I can't remember how I got into the books. I think it might just have been by chance that I was in a bookstore and these books caught my eye. I remember buying Guilty Pleasure and really enjoying it. So I went back and bought the rest of them.

I love JC. I really think he's great. He's just enough monster for Anita. Asher is too, but he's just as emotionally damaged as Anita. They make a perfect disfunctional couple...lol...

On a side note, if you like Laurell K Hamilton books try reading her Merry series. That's just as good. My favourite characters in that are Frost and Doyle. I've also read her first book Nightseer, which is a stand alone book. It's a lot like Guilty Pleasures in that there's not a lot of 'adult activity'...lol...It's a good read 🙂

What is Anita Blake? I heard about it and even saw some stuff on the net but never knew what it was referring to.

BACK AWAY, SLOWLY. Look, now you've dragged me into this predicament..Godamnit! Anita Blake is clearly a chick thing... DON'T let them lure you into reading it.. Lets just slip away, quietly into the night. We'll get drunk and talk about football. :Beats chest:

lol, hate to admit this, CC*, but he's probably right. Anita Blake is not really a book for guys...unless you like reading about sex sessions from a woman's perspective.
go with Dzhugashvili, drink some beer and watch the manly sports, like football and wrestling...n second thoughts, that doesn't sound so bad either! except the beer part, lol.
