Anne - Coincidence

In the upcoming Buffy episode "Lies My Parents Told Me" Spike is going to have flashbacks to the time that he was still human and we will get to see his mother, apperantly his mother is called Anna, and Buffy's middle name, as we all know, is Anne ... do you think this is coincidential or is there something more to it? Hidden family ties? Maybe Spike, Buffy and Dawn are long lost relatives?!?!?

Few things:
1. Buffy is not married so she has no maiden name
2. if she was her maiden name would be Summers
3. Anne is her middle name
4. Spike's mother's name is Anna
5. they are in no way linked...i fail to see how someone's first name....and someone's middle name could make them be related....
 
what.. they arent related in any way. that's like saying 'anna sounds like anya so they must be twins'.

and if buffy and spike were related... gross.

"ME", Choosing to name Spike's mother Anna, could be a metaphor for Buffy. Guys usually fall in love with women who reminds them of their mothers. Prehaps "ME" was trying to get that across to the audiences. From the little that we have learn about William/Spike in"fools for love" and "Darla", it appears that he was some what of a mama's boy who always did what his mother told him to do. ( he told Dru, he had to hurry home to his mother)Compare that to Spike doing what Buffy/FE told him to do , in sleepers he allowed himself to be control by women.

Buffy in a way, used Spike- she use him for information, muscle, babysitter, and sex toy.

Anne in a way used him- She use him to take care of her, to be her companion , not allowing him to have much of a social life ( you can speculate that from the reaction of the guest at the party in fool for love, his mother probably hated Cecily, or anyone who might had taken her companion away.

See the comparisons? 😉

I think that is what the ME writer wanted to relay to the audience. 😀 But I could be wrong.

I'm sorry, it was late, I hope you'll understand now, that I ment to say middle name!

As we all know, Joss loves to pull these little things, that we only notice afterwards, maybe this was supossed to be one!?!
 
Why on earth dop you think they're related? My name is Lee, but that doesnt mean im related to Alyson LEE Hannigan!
 
I see where ur coming from Allycat, i thought it at first, but its just Buffy's middle name, besides, i dont think Joss could think of more out of the ordinary names!
 
Aside from Anne and Anna being middle and first names respectively, I just don't see how they are indicative of their being related.

To paraphrase a certain Simpsons character: "I don't think so sir. For one, they spell and pronounce their names differently."
