We are happy to announce the upcoming addition of a Buffy Season 8 forum for discussion of the comic series. It will premiere on March 7 at the same time that the comic is released.

In honor of the upcoming season, you will find a countdown at the bottom of the main page to the release date, a new section of the gallery, and other surprises to be revealed. Stay tuned!

So very cool - thanks for the addition!
Sweet 🙂 I just read Fray for the first time and it reads a lot like a television show, so I'm sure this will also be the case for Season 8, I couldn't put it down.

Televison Show? Hell! I wanna see a Fray movie.
A Buffy Season 8 section?

Great idea! I wish I'd thought of that! 😛

Just kidding. 😀 Cheers, Buffy. Looking forward to seeing it.

Oooo, excellent! I think Season 8 deserves it's own forum, even if it's not a TV show. It's already amazing we're getting NEW Buffyverse stuff.

This comic book is just as canon as if they had made it for television. Let nobody tell you otherwise, fair Epo! 😉

Here's something to consider. If JK Rowling were to write a Harry Potter comic and specifically state it is canon, is it? I'm going to say the majority of Harry Potter fans would accept it as such.

The term "canon" as it is applied to fiction is a muteable term. It's application is a fan creation. In a sense canon is fanon, meaning it's something the fans accept as fact. So by this logic if Joss tells us Buffy 8 is canon, and the majority of fans accept that assessment, then that's what it is.

There are still people running around saying canon has to appear in the original source format, but there aren't that many of them, so screw em. Their opinion doesn't affect the general acceptance of the application of the term. That's my opinion anyway.

I approve of your "screw em" attitude, N4H! 😀

For me it's really simple. If the official creator or owner of a given property states that something is a canon part of a given story or fiction, that's all I need to know. In the case of the Buffyverse, Joss can draw a three picture comic strip on the back of a notebook showing the death of Xander and if he says it's canon then I'll be getting out my black suit and attending a Harris funeral! 😉

That is interesting. For some reason I probably wouldn't accept it as cannon, neither would if they made, say, an eighth HP movie that wasn't based on a canon HP book, even if JK Rowling wrote the screen play etc.

I guess the reason I this is canon is that I have such faith in Joss, and that I've started to accept that Buffy is Buffy regardless of how it is made, just as long as Joss is behind it. I don't really have that kind of faith in Rowling even though she has written a few of my fav books, some how..

This may or may not make sense for this conversation, but it makes me think of the Interview With A Vampire film. Which Anne Rice loved. I still say it sucked though lol.

There was all this talk of postponement of the publishing date, so that had to throw everything off schedule a bit

new release date

I guess there was some kind of problem with printing and now the new date for release is the 21st?

The Comic was only Delayed by 1 week, it was due out on the 7th of March but was pushed back to the 14th, and was released on Wednesday in the USA.

If you live in Europe, we get comics on a Thursday so the comic was due out on the 8th of March, but was pushed back to the 15th March, and was released on Thursday.

The Next Issue is Due out on Wednesday the 4th April (Baring any delays) Which would be Thursday 5th in Europe.
