I think this season would have been much better off w/o the intrusion of Andrew. Gahhhhh. Makes me mad.
I can't stand him. You would think that Jonathan would have been a better fit since he's always secretly wanted to be a Scooby, and he's had more history with the characters.
Plus, Andrew killed someone, and they just let that slide completely, whereas they drove Faith to madness and lock her up, and Willow gets free magic lessons for a summer.
And that whole camera episode was just stalkerish and creepy.
The only funny thing in that whole episode was Anya's line when Andrew was filming his documentary in the bathroom:
"Why don't you just masturbate like the rest of us?"
What's worse is that he's the reason why Anya died!
I'll forever hate him. Don't care much for the actor though, so I don't hate Tom Lenk. I just hate the character Andrew.

Okay, rant over.

yea he really made me mad in the end of season six too when willow was going to kill him and he was all "But I didn't DO anything!" AHH! I wanted to kill him throught S7 aswell.
That's....not....good...point....in...my house! I might take away your bed!
But I see your points..I just disagree 😉

Agree. I love Andrew.
Ohhh, I just love Andrew. He´s actually my favourite male characte of the whole show. :: red :: But that don´t mean that I´ll diss you. Everyone has their right to their opinion. But I thought it was kind of impossible to hate "Storyteller". It´s good to be proved wrong.

What's worse is that he's the reason why Anya died!
Well, yes and no. Anya had died no matter what. Emma asked Joss to be killed so she had have died even if Andrew hadn´t been in season 7 but as it played out it can be easy to blame him. But who´s smart ass idea was it to put those two together? Considering how much trouble Buffy had with the first übervamp could anyone expect anyone of them to survive? Sometimes you just have to love the logic in the show. 😉

I adore Andrew. I thought he as so funny in S7, because of how awkward he was, and how much he didn't fit in. I loved the fact that he became a Scooby by default, and how everyone seems to welcome him in S8.

No!!! I love Andrew! He's one of the reasons s7 was so good, imo, I love him, he's hilarious.

I liked the inclusion of Andrew in season seven but I can fully understand the dislike - I've recently taken a dislike to him in the comics. I don't know why but I don't trust him. It annoys me that he has command of a troop of Slayers - I mean really? And the retconning of The Girl In Question just makes me suspicious of him even more.

I suppose Jonathan would have been a better fit but I do love Andrew. And he wasn't the reason Anya died it was the crappy battle plan. Plus he didn't get away with murder, they treated him like crap and brought it up when they needed to. They just had more important things to deal with then him. It wasn't until he was involved in the plot that they needed to take the offensive with him (forcing him to confess over the seal). If it hadn't been such a heavy season they would have dealt with him a while ago like they tried to do with Faith.

agreed one hundred percent and im glad in not alone in my dislike of him, in fact i kinda hate the whole trio im sad to say it dragged the show down for me, didnt like it and he was one of the worst so i was very dissapointed to see him wedged into season 7 like that, not good 🙁

I know he was so annoying all of season seven I was like SHUT UP!
I do like Andrew but it took a while, can't stand him in season 6, didn't like him much in the early season 7 shows, but by the end he won me over. Mainly due to his humor, it's slightly different from the usual scoobie hi-jinks, and i like that. I do have a problem, with him in season 8, i think he should be in jail, but hey, that's me.

I think Andrew is okay... I don´t love him like people seems to do, but I don´t hate him either.. He has some really good quotes and moments, but in general I think he´s no funny... Storyteller was okay episode too, nothing great.
The trio was terrible, for me.. too lame, I don´t know. Andrew just gets better when he´s alone with the scoobies. Before that I just think he coulnt existe =P

Andrew can definitely be a character that has to "grow on you" ... When i first watched him, i thought he was annoying too... But then as time went on, and I watched seasons 6 and 7 over again, i definitely began to appreciate his awkward sense of humor, and catch on to things I might have missed before..

Give andrew a chance, Letter J!

Y'all can just call me "Jay" for short. That was my original username choice, but I wasn't allowed to keep it.

Anyhoo, I can see all of your points, but it just doesn't sit well with me.
For one, he came onto the show with The Trio, which were very very very annoying and so not the Big Bad that it was dragged out to be.

And I especially HATE how Buffy just lets Andrew into her home after murdering someone. When Faith did it, Buffy never let her forget it and Faith eventually became crazy and bad, hence her Season 3/Season 4 arcs.
When Buffy thought she killed Katrina, she was all for turning herself in.
When Warren killed Tara, Buffy thought death would be too bad of a punishment. She wanted jail for him.
When Willow killed Warren, they let it slide since she was under the influence of magic, and they let her get rehabilitated. (I can understand this, I mean c'mon, it's Willow!)

So then when Andrew killed Jonathan, they just let him stay with them. And he even becomes a Scooby! And in Season 8, he's like in charge of Slayers and stuff.

See, to me, Andrew is just a fey version of Xander. I'm not a big fan of Xander, since he's usually just a big bumbling fool that somehow manages to come up on top at the end. But at least Xander had his moments and better jokes and was with the show since the beginning. But Andrew... eh, not so much.

I just don't get how most of y'all like him. He just bugs me.

Oh, and the Anya-being-dead thing I will discard from my reasons-to-hate-Andrew list. I forgot about Emma wanting Anya dead, so I'll move on. But my other reasons stand.

I loved Jonathan, so in some ways I wish Andrew would have died and Jonathan would have lived, but at the same time Andrew provided real comic relief in some of those eps in Season 7. He's definitely not my favorite character, and sometimes his whiny voice got on my nerves REALLY bad, but he had some sweet lines and you have to admit Tom Lenk is a great actor to pull off that roll. 🙂

BLASPHEMER!!!!!!!!!!! Andrew is one of the few highlights of the season. He is precious and we should do nothing but adore him!!!! I am drunk so sorry about the spelling 🙂

LOL Ok, ok! Andrew worship going on now!
I did like Jonathan a lot better, and think he would've been cuter, but the progression that Andrew makes is just so awesome, and he's so adorable. 🙂

Hmmm, I don't know, maybe its that thing where you can't imagine what you never had, but I just cannot imagine Jonathan being better than Andrew in the sense of being featured as a semi-series regular. Sure Jonathan was GREAT. I loved him every second he was on screen, and Superstar, forget it, he was made of awesome.... but I just don't think he would have fit in as well as Andrew did in S7. For one, Andrew is just LOADS funnier. And i couldn't imagine Jonathan being the one killing Andrew instead of the other way around, could you? And that was Andrew's way in to the rest of the season, so we would have needed that to happen(Jonathan killing Andrew) for it to be Jonathan in S7... I don't know, I'm for sure on the Andrew love train, he was the comedic light that S7 needed, I couldn't imagine S7 without the Andrew moments.

Personally I couldn't stand Jonathon. He whinged a lot.

Andrew is loads funnier. It took a while for him to grow on me but now he's one of my faves.

Andrew is emotionally retarded when it comes to confronting his acts of murder and such. He just brushed off the fact that he killed his mate, after realising he had been duped by the first and he lacks knowlege of grey areas and tact. (Angel)
So shots his mouth off and upsets people, which is what I do not like about him. I can't like him because he gives off the impression that he would side with evil if that was the powerful side. He only became a scoobie because he didn't want to mess with Buffy. If I were her I'd let him earn the trust, and then trust him with a group of slayers.

However I want to see some charactor development with him that says he has grown up emotionally.

I think it's less to do with siding with the more powerful side than following whoever he respects most. He clearly looked up to Warren - a fact the latter took advantage of - and then when he realised that Warren was gone, he moved onto the strong women in his life. He respected Buffy, as she was the slayer and he respected Willow, as she had bested Warren. He just plain loved Spike.

Obviously, that respect was mostly out of necessity, but it was Anya who finally replaced Warren as the person he was willing to follow. So, yes, he probably could go back to being on the side of evil, but I don't think he was particularly morally aligned with Warren.

You just took my words. :)
I totally disagree i love Andrew he's one of my favorite characters he brings fun and comedy to the show which i think it needed in season 7. He has some of the best line sin season 7 and in the few Angel episodes that he's in. Anya was going to die anyway so its not like you can blame Andrew.
