Annoyed by Andrew

I think Andrew bought a lot of humor to the season, I mean who couldn't have a giggle at his references to Star Wars, and the hilarious 'lesson' that he and Anya gave to the potentials 😛 Pure genius.

It's not Andrew that annoys me as much as the preposterousness of his being there. I do find lots of things about the character funny, and the way people interact with him, but I keep thinking "he MURDERED Jonathan, was part of numerous henious plots, belongs in prison" I mean...now the Scooby Gang is harboring felons?

But, if I let myself slip past that into happy land, then all is good. Depends on my mood when I sit on my couch.

Eh, yeah, BUT... he was useful to the. He had experience with the First that others didn't have; if it weren't for him they never would have figured out how to seal the... seal, LOL. Among other things.

Exactly. And he was just funny. He really lightened the season up, and his interections with Xander were cool (like how Xander lets slip that he's also into some comic or something like that ^^)

i hate Andrew. but if he ever owned up to what he almost did to Katrina, I think I could like him. I'm glad that he cried over what he did to Jonathan, but i don't know how much he changed. He hung out with a wannabe-rapist and murderer for a entire season (I mean Warren, although Jonathan was there too, but he was nicer).

it's nice tough, that when he whine and get's bullied around (not in this season tough, just season 7) I can give a loud mean ol' laugh, without feeling too quilty.

I aboslutely loved Andrew's character if not only for his comedic relief of the 7th season but just because he had an overall loveable character, murderous or not, in my opinion. I have much love for the sinister nerd 🙂

He wouldnt be the first person who murdered someone that the Scoobies took in. They kept Willow, they kept Spike, they kept Giles.

I never really likes Jonathan much. Out of the trio Andrew was my favorite and though in the beginning of his plotlines in S7 I wasn't all about it, I loved the comic relief and vulnerability and naivete he brought to the group. I definitely did not like how he became the go between between Buff and Angel though in AS5. I know he was the only one who was able to be written in because of their schedules, but it irked me that he is all of the sudden such a vital and intricate part of the scoobies, wheras the rest of them has been together for years. I know from what I have read that Andrew is basically leader of the potentials in Season 8, but from the summaries I have read about the comics I didn't want to get into them....too much changed. Didn't seem like BtVS anymore 🙁 Such is life though, right?

I was thinking yesterday about how different the character would have been if they hadn't picked Tom Lenk and had chosen a more "masculine" actor? Do you think the character would have received as much prominence?

I don't. I think the fact that it was played by Tom made him more lovable, even if he was annoying. Probably the only reason I liked Andrews character as much as I did was because of how Tom played him. I cannot considering him a scooby, but he definitely wasn't conformed to the rest of them, which I thought was great. None of them really respected him though, he was kind of a joke...so I still do not understand why they made him so vital to season 8. :/

Did they know he killed Ben? Or am I forgetting someone?

Pretty sure they don't know about Ben, but he did get taht guy killed in his youth. Not exactly murder, but still.

And after all, he tried to get Spike killed.

(Why not just put the vamp in a coma? There's must be a spell for that, no need to stake)
