LITHIA, Fla. — A pregnant woman in Florida gunned down two, armed home invaders.

WFLA reported that the woman's husband was attacked and pistol whipped by the intruders. The woman grabbed a firearm and fatally shot one of the suspects once, according to authorities. The other suspect has not been found.

"Two unknown males broke in and made demands of them. The male victim, who is the homeowner, began to get pistol-whipped and beat up," Hillsborough County Sheriff's Maj. Frank Losat told reporters on the scene. Deputies said the homeowner was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where they remain in stable condition. He suffered a fractured eye socket, a fractured sinus cavity and a concussion to go along with 20 stitches from the attack, NBC News reported.

It's a little known fact, possibly because the vast majority of the news media are pretty much anti-gun, that far more firearms are used defensively than offensively (something like 7 to 1, I think, but I can't find the statistic at the moment) and most of those cases don't even involve anyone actually being shot. The threat alone is sufficient to discourage an attack.
