What if Wolfram and Hart offered their offices to Angel in order to make him go to Sunnydale and use the amulet. They could have known that this was a way for the vampire with a soul to fulfill his destiny and turn into a human.

They could have used this as a method to render Angel helpless for the big apocalypse that W&H are planning later. Unfortunately things didn't exactly go according to plan and Spike took his place.

Bears thinking about, considering that the move seemed a bit out of character for something as evil as W&H.

I think so because they always do a funny line after something major happens. That is just the Scooby's way of making it not so sad. If this makes any sense at all. I think Spike is a champion, and him becoming human is a good idea.

Nah, don't think will happen, not too Angel or W&H like. Angel wouldn't make a deal like that wit W&H, helping them...not so likely.

Actually, there is another theory, which might make more sense.
Nerd4Hire seems to think that the amulet would make Spike evil, but he agrees that it may have been a double-cross by W&H. See the Spike evil thread...

This may be totally stupid, but what if the amulet was supposed to remove the bearer's soul permanently, thus turning Angel into Angelus..... but W&H got it wrong 'cuz Spike used it, so all it does is make him a vamp.... who's kinda good anyways................And I lost my own point there.

Going with the 'Spike fulfilled the destiny for the vampire with a soul prophecy' they did just fight this End Of Days Apocalypes and the prophecy says there needs to be an apocalyptic battle.
Plus, it would put a spin on the relationship between Angel and Spike, coz Spike would have the one thing that Angel wants.
