When Glory asks Spike about the key, he mentioned that the key is Bob Barker.
Glory then says that the key is new to the world and Bob Barker is old.
Well what about Dawn? She's not "old" but she definitely is not a newborn either.

Glory probably didn't think of the fact that the monks can alter everyone's memories to fit the key into anyplace they wanted. Did that make sense?

Yes, I think it makes sense.
Oh c'mon now...it's just a joke, and a damned funny one I thought.

Jinx (in response to the Spike's clues about the Key): Bob Barker!
Murk: We will bring you Bob Barker. We will bring you the limp and beaten body of Bob Barker!
Glory: It is not Bob Barker, scabby morons! The Key is new to this world and Bob Barker is as old as grit.

I thought it was funny too. Especially when the minions said they bring Bob Barker's battered body LOL
Yes, it's a joke for us but...

I think Glory's slow-witted Hobbit minions didn't get it and Glory had to say something to them. I agree with VG, maybe Glory herself didn't grasp the nature of the spell the monks cast and was fixated on looking for something that appeared new in some specific way or ways. Who knows.

I remembered better the other thing Glory said about the Key - that it was "pure", thus obviously disqualifying Spike.

Well when they thought it was TAra its because Tara was new to the group. She was treated differently.

Bob Barker has been around for a long time. Everyone knows him, who he is etc. So it couldnt be him. Hes not new.

but the monks could have altered people's memories to make people think bob barker had always been around. i agree that glory just didnt know about how the spell could work.

maybe Glorys memory wasn't altered. (with her god....ness) and the fact that she knew about the exsistence of bob barker before the key was turned into human form by the monks, would be a believeable reason for Glorys dismissal of the claims.

Joketeller: Guy, and a duck walk into a bar. Duck says...

Buffyfan 1: Wait a minute now. The duck could talk?

Buffyfan 2: Maybe it's like Sid the puppet in Puppet Show from Season 1.

Buffyfan 3: Yeah like maybe it's an enchanted duck, or something.

Buffyfan 4: Doesn't make sense. It's a continuity error.

Buffyfan 5: I don't like Duck's. They peck.

Joketeller: Duck says..."quack".

Hehehe
Glory thought Tara was the key, too, but she obviously wasn't "new to the world" either. Possibly, she really meant new to the group or the "world" of the hellmouth. Since everyone's memory had been altered concerning Dawn (I wonder if Adam would've known the difference if he'd been around then?) was that she was a normal teen aged girl, Glory didn't consider her until Tara accidently spilled the beans.

Adam probably would know. The spell that the monks did seems to be the same kind of spell Jonathon did (except without the monster as far as we know) and Adam could see through that.
