Hey! So, I started watching Buffy again, because I'm free for the holidays and also have a nifty subscription to Netflix. I figured I'd post my reactions, y'know, just in case somebody cared. I haven't watched the first 3 seasons in a long--and I mean long--time, so it's interesting to see how differently I react. I'll start with Season 1, but I decided to post this on Season 2 because that's where I am now and it'll take a little while to get through it all.

Feel free to start discussions and make this thread more interesting!

Season 1
First Few Episodes
- Oh. My. God. 90's fashion.
- Buffy looks like a baby! Her face is all round and youthful. Aw.
- Wow, that skirt is short.
- Wow, that dress is short.
- I wonder how many people she flashes on a daily basis with those high kicks in those tiny skirts. At least she usually kills the people she kicks.
- Damn, Cordelia is gorgeous.
- Whoa, Angel looks fantastic.
- I mean really, really fantastic.
- Aahaha, Principal Flutie! That guy.

Teacher's Pet
- Aw, he gives her the leather jacket. I forgot about that. It's longer than her dress.
- Okay, so maybe I can tolerate Bangel. For now. Just because Spike hasn't shown up yet.
- Where is Spike?
- Oh, right, 2nd season. I need to watch faster.
- Wow, this show is corny! I mean, it always was, but they usually pepper in the serious with the cornball. Right now it's all cornball.
- Fight scenes get better in later seasons.
- Overall show gets better in later seasons, as actors and writers get to know their characters.

Witch
- I've enjoyed Witch the most out of the episodes so far. "Macho, macho man..."
- Love the Joss humor. Missed the Joss humor.
- Amy is so freaky
- I mean Amy's mom.
- Whoa, Cordelia really is a bitca. Man, her character goes a long way.

Angel
- Okay, Angel, you're pretty good lookin' for a vampire, but I forgot the way you crept around all the time. And creeping is... creepy.
- I didn't mean what I said about you being creepy. I didn't, I swear! Now, will you stand around being all not creepy and half-naked in my kitchen?
- Oh, Buffy. He didn't read your diary.
- And here come the fangs.
- "You're in love with an umpire!? Everyone hates those guys!"
- Xander is so deeply, unfailingly jealous of Angel.
- Mentions of Angel loving Buffy already? Well, he does say later that he stalked her at school and loved her while she licked a lollipop. Or something like that.
- Oh, Darla. You clever fiend.
- The guns are.... lame. Super lame. I am not impressed with you, Darla. Even in your catholic school girl outfit.
- Snap, crackle, pop, now we've got ourselves a legitimate pairing.
- Ouch, that burn probably smarts. But how did she press her chest up on his neck enough to burn him that way? Still, sweet goodbye kiss.
- I like them when they're not so tragic and doomsday-ish. Which is like... every other moment of their relationship hereafter.

I Robot, You Jane
- That scene at the end of "I Robot, You Jane" where they all talk about their weird encounters with the opposite sex and how they'll never have normal relationships and they all look away and get depressed? Love it.
- Ash from Supernatural! He's Dave! I prefer him with a mullet.

The Puppet Show
- I hate thee, O Principal Snyder.
- LOL at Giles doing the talent show and having absolutely no idea how.
- Aw, Jenny Calender. I have seen your future, and it is bleak.
- Good fakeout with the puppet. It's the terrible magician! He's mad because his magic tricks are so bad. Or... he's a demon or something.
- "I saw a dummy, it gave me the wigs, there wasn't really a story there."

Nightmares
- Liked this one a lot overall. Their nightmares are ones I have too.
- A little harsh, Hank Summers!
- Willow having to sing amused me because I know Alyson begged not to have to sing in OMWF. I bet that's one of Alyson's actual fears.
- The Master has one move: Grab Buffy and choke her. You're like a billion years old and you've had about that long to sit and think of ways to hurt the Slayer. Be creative!

Out of Mind, Out Of Sight
- And we've come to the "humanizing the school bully" portion of our television programming. But I like Cordy, so it works.
- There's something so incredibly sad about Buffy watching Cordy prepare through the classroom window.
- Great instance of Whedon and Co. making the figurative high school struggle into a completely real and literal one.
- Whoa, government conspiracy! Creepy.

Prophecy Girl
- Buffy's rant to Giles and Angel is one of the first "Oh, that got me" moments of the show. "I'm sixteen years old. I don't want to die."
- Willow's speech to Buffy got me too, as well as Buffy's talk with Joyce.
- That really is a pretty dress.
- The fight with the Master was... maybe a little anticlimactic.
- It's funny that Angel says he can't give CPR... right as he's huffing out breaths from the run over and the intensity of the moment.
- Buffy's awakening was so... weird. Her eyes just popped open and she breathed... and then she spit up all that water.
- She did it, she bashed him, wee Buffy's the one! And Master's gone moldy, so now let's have fun!
.... At the prom.

Season 2

When She Was Bad
- Wow, I forgot how utterly annoying Buffy was in this episode.
- She lost weight! And she didn't need to; her body was perfect before. Damn you, Hollywood.
- Sultry little dance that hurt both Willow and Angel, and probably Xander. Nice going.
- Wow, that little "I'm the Slayer, you're not, neener neener" speech closely resembles the "I'm better than you, you suck, neener, neener" speech from Season 7.
- Three cheers for Xander's lecture! "I don't know what your problem is, what your issues are, but as of now, I officially don't care. If you'd worked with us for five seconds, you could have stopped this."
- Joss humor is even better this season.
- Aw, Buffy's breaking down. And Angel's hug is cute.
- I like her nervousness the next day. You should be nervous, you silly Slayer.

Some Assembly Required
-Frankenstein needs a wife!
- Cordelia is always getting snatched by villains. You'd think girl would be pushing her back into the corner by now, possibly in a straight jacket in a padded room.
- "Why is this always happening to me?"
"Karma!"
- "Speak English, not whatever they speak in--"
"England?"
- "I got a thing, you maybe have a thing, maybe we could have a thing?"
- The wit's definitely gotten sharper.

School Hard
- I know that car! I know those boots! I know that jacket!
- IT'S SPIKE!
- Spike, Spike, Spiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiike.
- Did anything else happen in this episode?
- He's just so pretty.
- Oh, right. He's not nice.
- I mean like, really, really pretty.
- So you agree? You think you're really pretty?
- This has gone off on a tangent. Okay, back on topic.
- He's so into her already.
- "What happens Saturday?"
"You die."
- Snyder sucks. I hate that guy.
- Aw, Buffy's such a good little leader.
- Cute mom and daughter moment!

Aaaaaand, that's all so far. More to come as I continue to watch until all hours of the morning!

Love it!!
I was re-watching first few episodes or just watching the pilot, I thought wow, Buffy comes off as whiny and bratty. But I do realize it's because she just wants to be a normal teen. And she can't be one and in same episode proves that she can't be because of the dead body in the locker.

Yeah, she's still at her whiny phase in the beginning of Season 2.
I've been re-watching Seasons 1 and 2 lately. And even though I'm 29, I was 18 when these seasons came out and in The Pack, Xander was totally hot and in Lie To Me, Ford was SOOOO gorgeous, yum.

Ford had a lot more charisma than Owen (or Scott Hope or Parker).

Yeah, I wish he stayed around a lot longer cause he was just very interesting compared to other bit parts that were friends/romantic interests of Buffy's.

Not to mention that Jason Behr is totally cute. Wait, done that. Hm.

Hah, yeah, I did like Ford! I don't know if I would have liked him sticking around, though, but he was more interesting than Owen. I'll have new reactions up momentarily--I'm halfway through season 2.

I just started a re-watch, and I'm up to the What's My Line episodes... It's amazing to see everyone change from season 1 to season 2... I remember hating Cordelia when I first started watching, but she's so great and so shallow... I really think season 2 is where everyone really starts coming into their own.

@Kelsey - keep up the commentary! It's great! 🙂

Re-watching this series at the moment 🙂 Up to the last disc in the DVD box set hahaha.

I wish they made Darla do more; she was a pretty creepy villain (because of how eccentric she was) and I expected her to have more of...Bellatrix (from harry potter) effect lol. But she didn't do enough 🙁.

Yep I am now doing Season 2 as well... almost finished with When She Was Bad as I type...

@Kelsey, I agree... they wore ALOT of way too short clothing for 15-16 year old high school students... And I too feel the wieght loss was not needed.
